Trail Report – : Crivitz, Wisconsin – January 7, 2019

Reporter:ironsnowshoe

Trail Conditions: Open

Snow Cover: 6 inches in most areas

Date of Report: January 7, 2019

Area Report:

Hurrah!  We received 6 inches of good heavy wet snow throughout most of the Iron Snowshoe Trail.  Now it is Monday morning and it is raining, but I think we will still be ok.  We went around and opened all the gates.  The trails are OPEN.  We welcome any of you to ride through and pack this snow down with your sleds.  This will help the snow stick to the trail.  For best results, our groomers will not be able to go out until it stops raining and the temperatures stay colder.  So…a day or two out.

I will keep you updated as this week progresses…

Hoping for HAPPY TRAILS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trail Conditions: Poor

Snow Cover: Zero to 3 inches

Date of Report: January 7, 2019

Area Report:

Hello Riders!

No big changes to report. We do have warmer weather today, however reports the wooded trails are surprisingly good from the center part of the county to the north. The Chippewa Flowage has good ice and enough snow to keep your sleds cool. Temps cooler tomorrow and warmer on Mon with snow in the forecast Sunday night and Monday and then temps dropped back down for perfect riding weather after Monday.

Surrounding counties open are Bayfield, Price and Ashland is partially open. Rusk, Barron and Washburn still closed.

Thanks to all the groomers and volunteers out doing trail maintenance! Watch for the new menu boards! Send us a picture with you and the new boards if you see them! Thank you to Musky Sno, North Country ATV and Sno Mads for getting these great signs going! And huge thank you to Gene Chenoweth for all the hours and hard work building them! Please remember this is a very big job and there are many businesses. The goal was to have them started by Jan 1st and more and more businesses will be added in phases as man power exists. Some of the most common landmarks are on them now to get the ball rolling, more will continue to be added. If you are a business owner and would like to volunteer helping to get these out and/or any work added with them as you will benefit please contact Don Mrotek (private message for contact info if needed). It’s a big job and a small group working very hard! Thank you those!!

Trail Report – : Three Lakes – Brule River, Wisconsin – January 7, 2019

Reporter:Threelakeswi

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 3-8”

Date of Report: January 7, 2019

Area Report:

Here are your current conditions:
We received about 4” of heavy wet snow over the past 24 hours. All of our equipment is out panning and grooming the trails. There is a lot of moisture in the snow, so they should all groom out really nice with some cold weather coming this week. More snow in the forecast also.

Our forest county portion of the trails are still not open, but hopefully by the weekend they should be.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Use cation at all road crossing as they are icy.

Some Washburn County Snowmobile trails opened on Saturday, January 5th.  All snowmobile trails located south of Hwy 70 and east of Hwy 53 will remain closed. Trail conditions are considered poor, with a 0 to 2 inch ice and snow base, due to warmer than normal temperatures and rain.  Trail conditions do vary and riders may encounter ice, rough trails, some standing water conditions or no base at all. Some trail segments may be ungroomed. Generally, trail conditions are better in the northern portions of the county. Keep thinking snow so we can get the other trails opened as well!

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 7, 2019

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 6-10

Date of Report: January 7, 2019

Area Report:

Trail report for January 7, 2019 – Overall poor to fair for early season. With the temps in the 30’s over the weekend and lack of any snow did not help our trail system. With the 4 inches of snow we received starting at about 12:00 AM this morning we were out with our groomers and it really help to improve them. We were hoping for more snow than what we got but we always do. We will go out tonight to complete our trail system and hopefully the warm temps and rain expected today will be at a minimum in our area. Please use extreme cation in all areas! It is very icy and bare in corners and many areas. I would like to personally thank Lee & Pam for hosting our fundraiser Brat Fry at the Granary on Saturday. I would also like to that all the volunteers and all the people who came out to support and make this event a success. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.
