OPEN – Early Riding Condition to Fair Condition
Partial Grooming overnight
Finally some wet SNOW yesterday into last night. About an 1 yesterday during the day with another 3+ last night. Temps popped up yesterday with some afternoon sun. Teens overnight. Great for grooming! Today temps will start to drop early holding the SNOW. Then another temp pop up above freezing on Thursday & some sun. For the weekend highs in the 20’s & lows in teens to single digits. More SNOW on Saturday afternoon. Looks like 1 inch +-
Trails are still in early riding for the most part with some moving up to Fair. Here is what GTS Tracking is reported groomed:
Suggest buying a map. All 11 clubs in Vilas have a map that has their area on one side & the entire County on the other side. There have been several re routes in Sno-Eagle Country and in other clubs.
Riding is adventure sledding right now. Not perfect. Not bad!! There was a fatality this past Saturday in Vilas County. Please, please slow down!

Area Report:
Went out for a ride today, put another 60 miles on around Conover and into Phelps. Trails are thin for snow. I would rate them poor to fair. We did find some good trails out there, tend to be the lesser traveled sections. There isn’t enough snow on the trails to go out and groom. Some areas will be bumpy and corners are icy or blown out. The snow we have gotten recently has been light fluffy snow. We are watching the forecast for the coming week, the pattern is suppose to shift and bring us several chances at some measurable snow. Keep doing the snow dance.
News and Reports:
Trail 12 from the RR grade TIN 732 to County K TIN 731 has ruts from ATVs. There isn’t enough snow to fill the ruts. We put signs at each end of the trail for Caution Next 1 mile and Rough Trail. Use caution when traveling this area.
The Cemetery Trail from TIN 724 to TIN 725, and south to TIN 727 at Church Rd is thin for snow cover. You will find a few bare spots, There is a hill between TIN 725 and TIN 726 at Lindberg Rd that was bare from sleds going up it. The swamp area did freeze up, so it is good to go.

Area Report:
our trails still remain closed until further notice, lack of snow and 40 degrees coming Thursday will not help things. small 1-2 inch snows are all were getting, we need a 6 inch wet heavy snow to get the trails open. The Cruisers in Vilas county are doing a good job of keeping our trails smooth but again need more snow.

Date of Report: January 27, 2025
Area Report:
At 8:00 am it is 22 degrees out with cloudy skies with light snow starting today into tomorrow.
All of our trails were groomed or panned prior to this past weekend. We tried to preserve our
thin base and pulled new snow in where we could. Because of the colder temps and cloud cover, our trails have held up to the traffic. That will
change with any warmup and sunny conditions which we are expecting to see on Thursday.
Our trails are in fair condition with a 1”- 4” base with some icy patches and dirt starting to come
through. Our road trails are in very good condition and our road and town routes still have
enough packed snow on them. We did lose a groomer this week and will be down to 1 groomer. We will get out and groom
after this upcoming snow. Look for an updated trail report on Thursday, January 30th .
