Not much to report this morning.  March riding.  Open areas crusty & heavy snirt.  Woods riding, trails on south & east sides of roads still really GOOD riding.  Seeing a fair amount of traffic heading east on Trail 10E where I live, plus 10W/13N heading to the woods.  10W/7 over the Wisconsin River Bridge & heading west is in SNOW covered condition.  North & west in Vilas County a good bet. Next SNOW forecast for Saturday.  Definitely late season riding.

Sno-Eagles has halted grooming.  Will start up again with more SNOW.

Daily Reminders:   
Reminder that Trail 13S does not run all the way to Three Lakes as a portion was closed.  The Club is working on a reroute. Use Trail 10E or Trail 17S to get to Three Lakes.

Eagle Lake was marked by businesses. There are 3 color safety lights at entrance & exit from/to the lake trail. Expect frozen surface slush late in the day.  CATFISH LAKE TRL NOT MARKED THIS SEASON.  Do not recommend riding at night as there are areas that are thin or not frozen.
 
Trail 10W/13N/7 aka Wisconsin River Bridge area can change quickly.  Stay on the trail do not slip over to the outside edges as slush develops there.  Was over that a couple of days ago & the frozen slush on the west side was rough.  So, yep slow down.

Area Report:

Went for a ride to Boulder, and over to Conover, then back to Sunrise. Trails were very good. Some roads are getting bare. Supposed to be warm for a few days so….we shall see what happens. The next couple of days will be good.

Area Report:

Hope you were able to get out and ejoy the trails this weekend. This coming week is not looking good. This morning was cold but it will be warming up into the mid 30’s with sun. The rest of the week is in the 40’s and maybe in 50 with a chance of rain later in the week. We did groom last night but grooming the rest of the week will depend on weather. I’m sure the county will be watching the weather and talking with the clubs about conditions.

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – March 2, 2026

Area Report:

At 8:00 a.m., it’s 16 degrees out with mostly sunny skies and warming up to 38 degrees today. It
is warming up the rest of the week with highs in the low 50’s by Sunday and rain on Friday.
Due to the upcoming warmup, we may be down to our last few days of our season. We
groomed 15N/6E last night and 15S/11 early this morning. We may groom 8W/2W this evening
but that will probably be the last grooming we do this week. I’m assuming the Vilas County
snowmobile clubs will be discussing the status of our trails later this week.
We are holding our annual end of the season Cabin Fever Party fundraiser this Saturday, March
7 th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gooch’s. Hope to see you there!
Look for an updated trail report on Thursday, 3/5.

BY RECOMMENDATION OF THE LANGLADE SNOWMOBILE COUNCIL, THE LANGLADE COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAIL SYSTEM, INCLUDING ALL STATE FUNDED TRAILS, ARE SCHEDULED TO CLOSE FOR THE SEASON TUESDAY, MARCH 3, AT 6:00 A.M.

The Langlade County Snowmobile Ordinance prohibits snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles from operating on the trails after the official closing date.

For questions regarding the trails, please contact the local snowmobile club or visit their social media accounts. You may also contact the Forestry, Parks, and Recreation Department at 715-627-6300.

Langlade County would like to thank the snowmobile clubs, sponsors, and operators of the trails, for all of the volunteered hours brushing, signing, and grooming of trails over this season to provide high-quality snowmobile trails in Langlade County. Please make sure to continue to support the sponsors and clubs.

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – March 2, 2026

Area Report:

We groomed every trail in Conover Saturday night. On Sunday, we hit our busier trails one more time. This Monday morning is one of the last cold mornings this week. We are in for a warm up and possible rain at end of week. We will continue to monitor the trails, but I’m guessing that we won’t be grooming unless we cold and some more snow. March has dropped some heavy snow in the past, so stay tuned. 

We had a great day at Twin Lake Pub for the annual Poler Run Party. Thank you to all that participated and the great baskets that were donated for raffles. The proceeds from all these events go towards keeping fuel in the groomers and the barn heated. There is still time to pick up Big Cash Raffle tickets at our participating Conover locations. Draw will be at last meeting at Bauers Dam on March 10th.

Above is a photo of grooming last night in Sno-Eagles Country!  Looks to be in the Trail 10W/7 area.  Just an educated guess on that as rode that area yesterday afternoon.  It was full of loose white SNOW.  Would never have thought it would be that GREAT anywhere on the trails system.  Rode out to 10W/7 by way of 70W/7 to the connect with 10 in the St. Germain area.  Rode 10/7 east all the way the intersection where Sno-Eagles connects with Conover.  ALL was like this photo.  Plenty of SNOW.  The Wisconsin River Bridge area of the trail was frozen hard.  Did not see any soft slush anywhere.  This was late afternoon yesterday.  Conditions out there change very quickly to be prepared for slush.  

Trail 10/13 heading into town yesterday was SNOW covered ALL the way through town.  The thick birm that starts by Friendship House has plenty of SNOW.  Road/street crossing are wet, slushy.  Grade heading south was also white with plenty of SNOW.  

Trail 10E is SNOW covered ALL the way to MJ Gas Station which is 7 miles east on the SOUTHSIDE (heading west) of the one way section.  The one way section heading west into town is on the northside & have burn throughs especially in the area from the bridge by Boat Sport to just past Catfish Lake Rd (which is across the hwy).  From there into town it is pretty GOOD.  Taylor Lk Rd is icy but has cover.  Spruce Ln not so much.

It will be 37 today with full sun starting around lunchtime until 5pm ish.  So these conditions will not last much longer.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – March 2, 2026

Area Report:

This time of the year, weather conditions can change the trails significantly.  Last Friday was one of those days were the warm temperatures took a large toll on the good conditions.  We are down to a solid ice base on most trails.  The road routes are down to the pavement with little to no snow covering.

Riding can be performed with scratchers.  We put on nearly 50 miles yesterday, but scratchers were used 100%.  

The outlook for this week and the upcoming weekend is not good – more warm weather.  

This is the “late season” riding report.  They are “fair” currently.  They will move to poor without new snow.

If you choose to ride, stay on the trail. It will be so tempting to try and grab some snow off the trail, don’t do it, we need to keep the sleds between the blazers.

Grooming has been suspended for Hodag Sno-Trails at this time.

The next few days could be it until fresh snow arrives.  

The conditions will be updated as they change.
