Area Report:

Trail report for February 22, 2019– Trails are very good. The current temp is 10 above zero. We expect very heavy traffic over the weekend. The snow conditions are the best I have seen in many years. We will be out grooming tonight, tomorrow and throughout the weekend. We are expecting to get another round of snow later this weekend. The totals could exceed over a foot of snow. With all that snow the trails can form bumps very quickly. With the heavy traffic please watch out for other riders. The corners can remain icy. Please use caution. Always stay on marked trails. We have a lot of snow so have some fun out there! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Here are your current conditions

Another 4-5” this week of snow with a major storm coming this weekend.

Record snowfalls the past few weeks have made for the best trails in years. More snow coming this week. We have not seen this much snow in a long time. No better time to ride then now. Lakes might start to get slushy, so the throttle is your friend. If you feel slush, hammer down. You may encounter a icy corner. Everything is in excellent shape. Watch out for low hanging branches. All trails are being groomed 4-5 times a week.

Please, slow down and limit your drinking. Way too many fatalities in northern Wisconsin, and they all can be prevented.

Lakes are all marked. Remember, stay as close to the barrels as possible. If you don’t see barrels, assume they are not safe.

Please respect our private landowners and stay on the trail. We have had a couple issues this year already and it always puts our trails in danger.

Use caution at all road crossing as they are icy.

Check our Facebook page for information about the new hoodies and T-shirt’s we have for sale.

If you are up this weekend, stop by want watch the Junker sled races on Saturday. More details on our Facebook page.

EAGLE RIVERS  TRAILS OPEN!
Trails Very Good to Excellent!

February 22 2019 7:25am – 11 – High 31

Winter just keeps coming in Vilas County!  Saturday night into Sunday more SNOW is forecast.  5-8 inches on Saturday night & 1-3 Sunday during the day!  In the meantime the temps are popping up. 31 today. 32 Saturday & 26 Sunday.  Then on Monday back to single digits for high & night times temps below zero until next Thursday. That’s if the weather guys are right.  We will see.

Trail Boss reports that all trails in Eagle River were groomed overnight.

Some chop & set bumps in a few areas. Groomers will be out to do some cutting to fix the set bumps.  There are 2 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd & on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.  There wasn’t  snirt at the trail crossings but temps are coming up today so mushy snirt will be at the road crossing especially right in town.  SNOW’S going to soften up but it is deep enough & everything is groomed so will be great riding.

More SNOW means even higher snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings.  Please when you see the yield driveway ahead sign slow down & take the time to look both ways.  At the road crossings there are stop signs & please stop.  It is nearly impossible to see vehicles coming.  Have seen a few sled & vehicle accidents this season not good.

REMEMBER THE DUSK TO DAWN SPEED LIMIT IS 55MPH EVERYWHERE.  Lake & Land Trails.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  Lots of SNOW on the lakes so there could be some moguls.  Be safe & slow down.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

That’s it for today!  Start of another sledding weekend.  Be safe.

See ya on the trails!

Trail Report – : Sugar Camp, Wisconsin – February 22, 2019

Reporter:Matt Winters

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 12″+

Date of Report: February 22, 2019

Area Report:

Trails in sugar camp are in excellent riding conditions, as in prior reports be aware of low hanging branches from ice & heavy snow. Maintain reasonable speeds while crossing lakes as some slush may be out there & stay close to the orange barrels while crossing. Snowbanks are getting high by road crossings making it alittle harder for seeing traffic coming. Come to complete stops  & use caution. Remember nighttime speed limits of 55mph & 3 digit numbers at intersections are there for your safety pinpointing your exact location in case of emergency. Get out & ride while we have alot of snow, only about a month left of this record snow & great trail conditions! United we trail divided we fail!!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 24 plus inches

Date of Report: February 21, 2019

Area Report:

Trails are in excellent shape.

We received another 4 to 5 inches of snow yesterday.  More snow predicted for this weekend.

All three groomers are out.  The only drawback I am finding are the lake crossings.  You may find them slushy and very rough due to the large amount of snow.

I am hoping to see all of you up here this weekend.  You will find some fantastic riding.  Also, there are radar races at High Falls and two vintage snowmobile rides going.  Check these out below in our list of events.

Be safe…Have fun!!!
