Trails Very Good to Excellent!
TRAIL 10W/13N aka WISCONSIN RIVER BRIDGE TRAIL IS CLOSED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

February 23 2019 5:24am  – 24 Snow Showers – High 30

Winter continues.  SNOW storm is moving in this morning.  1-3 inches of SNOW today.  Tonight 8-12 inches of SNOW tonight. 1 more inch of SNOW Sunday.  Temps will be up so the SNOW will be the heavy wet stuff.  After the SNOW on Sunday the temps will drop below zero Sunday night.  So if you thought winter was over you were wrong.  Trails in Vilas County can stay open until midnight March 31st.  That is with weather & SNOW conditions permitting.

Grooming continued last night.  All trails groomed.  With the heavy SNOW moving in it will take the groomers some time to get the trails back in shape. If you ride it will be deep SNOW riding.

Here are some important updates:

Trail 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge Trail is Closed Effective Immediately

There are 2 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd & on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The trails right now are in really great shape.  Did notice some chop & bumps under the newer SNOW.  Grooming should take care of that.   SNOW did get mushy yesterday with the temps up & the evil sun out.

All the SNOW means even higher snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings.  Please when you see the yield driveway ahead sign slow down & take the time to look both ways.  At the road crossings there are stop signs & please stop.  It is nearly impossible to see vehicles coming.  Have seen a few sled & vehicle accidents this season not good.

There are sections where the trails signs have been buried with the deep SNOW or by plowed snowbanks.  The club & groomers will be out to dig out signs or add post extensions so we can see the signs when we ride.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  Lots of SNOW on the lakes so there could be some moguls. Reports of slush.  Be safe & slow down.

REMEMBER THE DUSK TO DAWN SPEED LIMIT IS 55MPH EVERYWHERE.  Lake & Land Trails.

Been mentioning this all season:

Sno-Eagles Country has 2 areas that have one-way trails.  10E is a one-way trail from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Clearly marked with DO NOT ENTER signs.  Plus trail signs are backwards if you are going the wrong way.

Be safe.  See ya on the trails!

Area Report:

A week ago we were fighting equipment issues. Because of this, we missed a couple nights of grooming on a very busy weekend.

The GREAT news is that Lulich Equipment, out of Mason, provided us with a loaner last Sunday. We immediately put it to work. We groomed our entire system this week. Today we  received another tractor. So we are back in good shape and will be returning to a more normal grooming schedule.

We appreciate everyone’s support and understanding!

Area Report:

Trails are white and the entire trail system will be double groomed tonite in anticipation of the Snownami tomorrow night thru Sunday. Grooming the recent snowfalls has been a challenge. The extra snow on the trails is great but it does make for more bumps and it has taken a toll on the groomers. The Pisten Bully 200 is out right now and will be working til Sunrise. MANY THANKS to Chad and the Conover SnoBuddies for helping groom our trails the past few nights while both of our groomers were down.

TRAIL 10W/13N aka WISCONSIN RIVER BRIDGE TRAIL IS CLOSED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

February 22 2019 5:36pm  – 29

Winter just keeps coming in Vilas County!  Saturday night into Sunday more SNOW is forecast.  5-8 inches on Saturday night & 1-3 Sunday during the day!  In the meantime the temps are popping up. 31 today. 32 Saturday & 26 Sunday.  Then on Monday back to single digits for high & night times temps below zero until next Thursday. That’s if the weather guys are right.  We will see.

Trail Boss reports that all trails in Eagle River were groomed overnight.

Some chop & set bumps in a few areas. Groomers will be out to do some cutting to fix the set bumps.  There are 2 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd & on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.  There wasn’t  snirt at the trail crossings but temps are coming up today so mushy snirt will be at the road crossing especially right in town.  SNOW’S going to soften up but it is deep enough & everything is groomed so will be great riding.

More SNOW means even higher snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings.  Please when you see the yield driveway ahead sign slow down & take the time to look both ways.  At the road crossings there are stop signs & please stop.  It is nearly impossible to see vehicles coming.  Have seen a few sled & vehicle accidents this season not good.

Cross Country Cruisers Trail Report 2-21-19

We received around four or five more inches of snow yesterday here in Cruiser Country.

The trails are awesome and the scenery along the trail is breathtaking. If you’re not out enjoying this great time of the year you really are missing some of Mother Nature’s beauty, so get out and ride!

Trails 3,5,6,10,11,17,47,51 and the Bear Skin are very good to excellent, trail 70/10 in town is good to very good.

The snow banks at some road intersections are getting quite high so use some extra caution when crossing roads.

Ice fisherman are removing there ice shacks on some area lakes, please watch out for ruts than can cause you to lose control of your snowmobile, stay close to the markers.

It should be another great weekend of riding with more snow in the forecast for Sunday. Please stay to your right, obey the trail signs and respect other riders!
