Trail Report – : Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin – March 3, 2019

Reporter:Phil

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Looks like winter

Date of Report: March 3, 2019

Area Report:

The snow is white and deep and the woods are truly a winter wonderland. Trails are being groomed daily but the additional snow does allow for bumps on the trail to develop more quickly. Saturday’s heavy traffic had some pretty bumpy trails late in the day but the entire system was groomed Sat night and things were smooth and white on my ride today. Cold temps should allow the trails to set up more firmly and last longer. Traffic should be lighter this week so come on up and see us in Land O Lakes.

News and Reports:

Ride safe and do not get buried on the lakes by straying too far from the barrels.

Happy Trails!

EAGLE RIVERS  TRAILS
VERY GOOD

March 3 2019 6:56am  – 12 below  – High 6

Cold has returned.  High of 6 today 14 below tonight. Below zero at night through Thursday.  Next SNOW not until next Sunday.  Sun out today then looks to be cloudy for most of this coming week.

Lots of sled traffic this weekend.  So nightly grooming continues. All trails except Trails 1N, 1S aka Grampa Grahm, 17N, 3N aka Manske Swamp, & Uncle Kent’s were groomed.

Trails are Very Good.  With the deep SNOW no blow out in the corners but there is a lot of loose SNOW.  Slow down.  The deep SNOW has many deer laying along side the trails for cover & they are walking down the trails for easier travel.  Again slow down as they just pop up & run across the trail.

Here are other important updates:

Trail 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge Trail has reopened.  Please use caution.

There is 1 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd. Plus utility work on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings are very very high. Road crews are still out winging road banks.  With this clean up expect some blocked road & driveway crossings.  Please stop & cross with caution.

Still seeing some signs buried in the deep SNOW mostly at the crossing where the snowbank are very high.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Lakes are drifted & lots & lots of slush under the SNOW especially on Catfish Lake.  Drifting on Eagle Lake is much worse than on Catfish Lake.

The 2 one-way trail areas are 10E from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Please be aware that for now signs will be buried in many locations.  PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK A MAP SO YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THESE TRAILS.

See ya on the trails. Give the groomers 2 thumbs up!

Please watch for wildlife on the trails as they are using them a lot as well. Please stay on the trails as there are some areas that are very deep. Enjoy the trails in and around Park Falls.

Prentice Bush Benders trail report 02/28/2019

With the blizzard on Sunday we have been scrambling to reclaim the trails from mother nature. The groomer has been going out without the drag to bust open the trails again. We busted open the worst spot last night where our groomer got stuck on Monday. This area is on trail 120 N-Corridor 19 to the North of Windy road. When riding in this area please use caution. The drifts were 4 to 6 feet high in this area and it will remain rough until the groomer goes through several times. This being said, our trails will all be groomed at least once by Friday night. There will still be loose snow so ride safely. We had a good base before the storm so the trails should come back to good condition fairly quickly with continued grooming operations and sleds riding the trails. Be safe and have fun.  Thank you, Prentice Bush Benders.

Kennan/ Catawba Driftsplitters 2/28/2019

All Driftsplitters trails in Kennan and Catawba have been groomed Monday or Tuesday and in excellent shape. Grooming all trails twice a week. Logging continues on trail 94

Eisenstein Bushwackers 2/28/2019

The Tucker Sno-Cat and The Mogul Master do a tremendous job. Please stay on the trails, some areas are very deep off the trail. Enjoy our trails they are the best. Thank You from the Bushwackers (This is on110)

Fifield Sno Drovers 2/28/2019

The trails are amazing! Our groomers are out twice a day making our 78 miles of trails some of the best on the state! Ride now or forever hold your peace!!

NorthWoods Hi-Riders 2/26/2019
Who would believe that we would get more snow than what we could groom, but some drifts are so big and deep the groomers are getting stuck. We are 1 day off our regular grooming schedule but are working to catch up as quickly as possible. We should be all caught up in a day or so. Watch out for “snow suck” along the sides of the trails. More snow coming! Enjoy.

Elk River Pioneers 2/20/2019

All area trails have been groomed and are in excellent condition. Watch out on soo lake in the narrows someone plowed across trail!

Ashland County Snowmobile Report February 28, 2019
Trails in Ashland County are open and  grooming is in process everyday.  Trails are in very good condition.  The trail from Marengo north to the East end of Ashland, is closed, however there is a detour route in place that is marked.  The Tri-County Corridor is OPEN and has been groomed!

As always please follow the snowmobile trail rules and regulations. Stay on trail, as much of the Ashland County snowmobile trail system uses private property and could be lost if the property owners experiences issues. The most common complaints are snowmobiles not staying on trails or going off into fields that are not part of the trail, and loud noise from non-stock muffler systems. Respect the trail system so that it remains open. As always operate with everyone’s safety in mind and report any hazardous trail issues that are observed to the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department (715-682-7023 opt 1) so that it can be forwarded to the appropriate service.

The Tri-County Corridor is open from Superior to Ashland. There are still several areas on the eastern end that require attention but all known hazards have been identified and marked. Use caution when approaching ribbons, barricades, and cones.

Important reminders: There is no snowmobiling allowed from Ashland to Bad River/Odanah as snowmobiling is not permitted on reservation land.  However, snowmobiling is allowed from Bad River east to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

If you would like to receive an Ashland County Snowmobile map, let us know and we will mail one out to you! Call us at 715/682-2500 or toll-free at 1-800-284-9484.
