Trail Report – : Price County – Park Falls, Phillips & Prentice, Wisconsin – February 28, 2019

Area Report:

We have received a lot of snow this past weekend. The groomers are out trying to get the trails opened and ready to go again. Please be careful on the trails, there are large areas with drifts that may not have not been opened yet. Many reports of sleds stuck on the lakes and trails are being reported in. The groomers are doing there best to get the trails back in the best shape they have been in for years. Watch for wildlife on the trails as they are looking for places to travel as well.

Prentice Bush Benders trail report 02/28/2019

With the blizzard on Sunday we have been scrambling to reclaim the trails from mother nature. The groomer has been going out without the drag to bust open the trails again. We busted open the worst spot last night where our groomer got stuck on Monday. This area is on trail 120 N-Corridor 19 to the North of Windy road. When riding in this area please use caution. The drifts were 4 to 6 feet high in this area and it will remain rough until the groomer goes through several times. This being said, our trails will all be groomed at least once by Friday night. There will still be loose snow so ride safely. We had a good base before the storm so the trails should come back to good condition fairly quickly with continued grooming operations and sleds riding the trails. Be safe and have fun. Kennan/ Catawba Driftsplitters 2/28/2019

All Driftsplitters trails in Kennan and Catawba have been groomed Monday or Tuesday and in excellent shape. Grooming all trails twice a week. Logging continues on trail 94

NorthWoods Hi-Riders 2/26/2019
Who would believe that we would get more snow than what we could groom, but some drifts are so big and deep the groomers are getting stuck. We are 1 day off our regular grooming schedule but are working to catch up as quickly as possible. We should be all caught up in a day or so, but in the meantime if you want to go “boondocking” down some of the trails now is the time. Watch out for “snow suck” along the sides of the trails. More snow coming! Enjoy.

Sno Gypsies 2/26/2019
The trails have many areas that are drifted over. Please be careful if you are out riding. Many sledders are getting stuck off trail. The groomers are not able to pull the drags right now but are out with the groomers plowing and opening the trails up. We will continue to get the trails back to the great conditions as soon as we can.

Eisenstein Bushwackers 2/28/2019

With all the snow and wind The groomers spent 24 hours in 2 days grooming all the Bushwacker trails. Enjoy them and be safe. All Bushwacker Trails are groomed and Look fantastic. The Tucker Sno-Cat and The Mogul Master do a tremendous job . Enjoy our trails they are the best . Thank You from the Bushwackers (This is on110)

Trail Report – : Antigo/Langlade County, Wisconsin – February 28, 2019

Area Report:

All public snowmobile trails in Langlade County opened on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, to snowmobilers and ATVers. The trail between 54C and 53A will remain closed due to frequent truck traffic due to logging operations. As of February 22, 2019, the trail between intersections 44 and 66 in the Jack Lake area will be closed until further notice due to open water on the trail.

Trails in the wooded northern and eastern parts of the county should be in excellent condition. Trails in the southern part of the County, which cross plowed fields, will be in good condition with drifting in some areas. Caution and reduced speed are advised in these areas.

ATV’s are not allowed on snowmobile trails when the temperature is above 28° F. UTV’s are not allowed on the Langlade County Snowmobile trail system.

Next SNOW forecast for Friday with totals of 1-2 inches. Daytime temps through Saturday in the 20’s & teens. Single digit below zero at night. Starting Sunday single digits above during the day until next Wednesday & below zero every night.

Grooming continued yesterday & last night. Trail Boss reports following trails groomed:

3N aka Manske Swamp
17N
10W13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge area
13N to Conover connect

Riding is still sketchy. Recommend downloading the Vilas County MapIt trail app. It gives you the 3 digit emergency numbers & trail locations throughout the County. Be sure to turn on gps function on your phone to show you where you are on the trails.

Here are some important updates:

Trail 10W/13N aka Wisconsin River Bridge Trail is Closed

There is 1 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trail. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd. Plus utility work on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings are very very high. Crews are still out winging road banks. With clean up continuing expect some blocked road & driveway crossings. Please stop & cross with caution.

As trails get cleaned up trail signs will be buried in deep SNOW. It will take clubs throughout Vilas County time to unbury or add post extensions to the existing signs.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. With that said the SNOW will be way deep & will have drifts. So expect dangerous conditions. Might be best to stay off.

The 2 one-way trail areas are 10E from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart. The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area. Please be aware that for now signs will be buried in many locations. PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK A MAP SO YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THESE TRAILS.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – February 28, 2019

Area Report:

There is just so much snow out there. The groomers have been putting in extra hours packing the trails, busting through the snowbanks and opening the road crossings. This is taking tremendous amount of time to get the trails back to excellent conditions. I would rate the trails as good / very good. We are putting the drags back on the machines today to head back out to actually be able to drag the trails again. I would hope that all of the trails would be completed by the weekend.

Be careful out there at the trail crossings, road crossings, etc. We have spent hours pushing back the banks, but drivers sight lines are definitely compromised with the high banks. I haven’t heard much on the lake crossings recently, but I would imagine there could be some slush out there with all of the snow last week. Shouldn’t be a problem, but the lakes will not be smooth.

Some of the trail signs are getting close to the top of the snow pack, so ride a bit more cautiously out there, until the club can make sure all the signs are visible.

Trail Report – : Bayfield County, Wisconsin – February 27, 2019

General Countywide Report:
Numerous significant snowstorms pummeled all of Bayfield County throughout the entire month of February. Anywhere from around two feet to over three feet of snow fell this month. All clubs are still reporting some of the best riding conditions of the year. Please be aware of maintenance equipment on the trail, as grooming can occur at any time, day or night, especially with all of the new snow. Approach all wet areas with extra caution and be prepared to turn around if the crossing appears suspicious. Be wary of low hanging branches, wet areas, downed trees and/or limbs, and other similar hazards that may compromise the trail.

See below for area specific reports. For the most up to date report of trail conditions, please contact the local snowmobile club.

Drummond Snojacks: All trails are actively being groomed and are in very good to excellent condition. Reminder to users…trails in the Mason area are entirely on private property. Stay on the trail, don’t cut corners or look for shortcuts.

Namakagon Trail Groomers: 10-16″ base. All trails are actively being groomed and are in very good to excellent condition. Grooming is ongoing at this point – could be out there any day of the week, night or day.

Valhalla Area: Trails in the Valhalla, Red Cliff and Bayfield peninsula are all in excellent riding condition. Grooming continues six days a week. Remember StayRight, RideSober.

Iron River Area: All trails in Iron River area along with the Tri County Corridor will be groomed at least once by the weekend. Some areas received a significant amount of snow from the last storm. Use caution at road crossings as workers are still clearing roads which leads to trail crossings being plowed closed. They will be opened up as we come across them.

Frosty’s Vintage Riders (Mason/Delta Area): Mason/Delta Area trails are actively being groomed and are in excellent conditions with a 12-18″ base.

South Shore Trail Club (Port Wing, Herbster & Cornucopia Areas): Trails in the Port Wing area continue to be in great condition with lots of fresh snow. More grooming is planned for Thursday.

A portion of Trail 40 (Wally Polk) was recently plowed, but is still open. If riding this section of trail be aware of logging activity, including haul trucks. To get to Port Wing, an alternate route would be Trail 43 to Trail 66 to Trail 3.

Barnestormers (Barnes Area): All Barnes trails are being groomed and are in excellent condition. Trail 31 south going towards Nelson Lake will not be groomed beyond 43 road, loggers have plowed the trail beyond this point (but the trail remains open). Be careful in this area.

Waino Riders (Northwest Corner of the County): Waino Riders are actively grooming the trails. Trails in perfect shape.

Washburn Valhallers: Trail #13 North and South are groomed regularly and are in excellent condition. They will both be groomed again before the weekend.

Closures:

Trail 63 in the Cable Area: Trail 63 just south of the intersection with Trail 70 south of the town of Cable is closed until further notice.

Trail 31 South, into the City of Bayfield, is closed for the entire season.

Trail 3 in the Port Wing Area, between Touve road and Almstead road, is closed. This section of trail will remain closed for the entire season.

Re-Routes:

Trail 4 just east of Mason: Trail is closed at Yderstad Rd. Take Yderstad north to Brown Rd. then back South on Roy Anderson Rd where you can pick up the trail again. Follow signs.

Trail 4 in Delta: At Camp One road and County H. Follow the signs.

Trail 63 and 70 into Cable: To get into the Town of Cable from the East take Randysek Rd. North into town.

Trail 40 just South of Port Wing: Flag Rd. is closed. Use East White Birch Rd. to get into Port Wing.

Other Notes:

A portion of Trail 17, located west of Highway 27, and heading west through Sawyer and Bayfield Counties, has been plowed for a logging operation. The trail remains open, but please be aware of logging activity, including haul trucks.

A portion of Trail 31 South, located west of 43 Road has also been recently plowed for a logging operation. This trail also remains open, but please be aware of the logging activity, including haul trucks.

All Bushwacker trails where groomed Thursday night. They are very good best in years good base like 14 inches enjoy. There are lots of sleds out today all very happy Thank you from the Bushwackers

Prentice Bush Benders trail report 02/20/2019

With all the new snow and more coming our trails are all in good to excellent condition. The groomer is out everyday working to provide the best trails possible. Our groomer does run day and night so always be aware and ride with caution in the wooded areas and areas with blind corners. Spring is only 4 weeks from today so get out and enjoy the great trails in all of Price county. As always ride safe and have fun.

Fifield Sno Drovers 2/20/2019

All trails are in excellent shape and IT’S SNOWING! The trails have all been groomed, smooth and fully covered with snow. Now is the time to ride!
Logging continues on Trail 120 south of the big swamp and Fould’s Creek Rd and on Trail 108 between Trail 101 and highway 70. PLEASE TAKE IT SLOW IN THESE AREAS! The loggers report that some snowmobilers have been driving too fast around the logging equipment. We’ve put up additional warning signs, but safety is up to you. We don’t want any of you to become statistics, so go slow and beware of ice where the trails have been plowed.

The trails around the Solberg Lake area were all great for the busy weekend we had. The groomers will be out to keep them in excellent shape. They have a good base and plenty of snow to groom with. There is short section on Trail 102 along the Squaw Creek Wildlife area that has some woods machinery working along it. Be Cautious, Ride Safe.

Kennan/ Catawba Driftsplitters 2/6/2019

We will have all trails groomed and in very good shape by Thursday. There is logging on trail 94 and on trail 181 between intersection 100 and intersection 101. With the good snow we got all trails will be groomed twice a week.

Cable Area Snowmobile Trail Report

Wednesday, February 27th, 2019

From our Namakagon Trail Groomers:

Our trail system currently has a 12″ base throughout and trail conditions are very good at this time.

Groomers will be out hitting the system today and will keep up trails as needed through the weekend.

The Cable Area received about 2-3″ of snow overnight and we are forecasted to get 1-3″ more Saturday. Daytime temps will be well below freezing for the next week, with overnight lows below zero most nights.

Please remember that our groomers have the right-of-way and they can be out day or night grooming our trails to be the best they can be!

Trail report for February 27, 2019 – Trails are VERY GOOD. The current temp is about zero. We got a few inches of snow last night. Yesterday I took a ride with the wife and we did a short loop to Manitowish Waters. The trails were flat and stiff with the below zero temps. There was very little traffic and it was a very enjoyable ride. The Boulder and Manitowish Waters groomers did a great job. Thanks!

With all the snow visibility at intersections and other areas are decreased so use extra caution. Signs on the trail may have become snow-covered. The groomers are clearing the snow from the signs but if you encounter a snow-covered sign on the trail help us out and brush the snow away so riders can see it. Please stay on marked trails. Flagging and signs are up for a reason. STAY ON THE TRAIL! Some snowmobiles are going off the trails and getting stuck in the deep snow. Watch out for the other riders on the trail. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Red Arrow Snowmobile Trails (Townsend) – 2/26/19

It’s 6 degrees in beautiful downtown Townsend this morning. The trails are in excellent riding condition. Groomers were out last night to provide the best riding conditions possible. More snow coming tonight-so stay tuned for how much we get this time!

Paul Bunyan (Lakewood) – 2/25/19

We were out grooming Sunday night and will continue today. The high winds have put several branches on the trail slowing the grooming progress. We will continue today. If you venture out today be careful because there is dangerous wind chills.

Chute Pond Snowmobile Trails (Suring/Mountain) – Chute Pond trails are open, being groomed, and are in very good condition. Grooming will be ongoing- so please watch for them on the trail any time of day or night- and always yield the right of way to the groomers. Stay to the right, and enjoy your ride!

Bagley and Brazeau Joyriders Snowmobile Trails – 2/26/19

B&B Joyriders trails are in excellent condition again this week. The groomers will be out on the trails throughout the week. So be careful for the groomers on the trails. Also watch out for deer on the trails, they are using the trails to move around. If you ride to Suring, the old trail is closed through the golf course, but the trail does go around the golf course by using the side of the road, it will bring you back into town.

Gillett – 2/22/19

Gillett trails are all open and in excellent condition. We are experiencing some of the best trail conditions we have seen in years. We are out grooming quite offer the best riding conditions possible. Our groomer drivers are all volunteers and operate when they have time so they could be out at any time. Be alert, drive safely! Along with that please obey trail signs we put them up for a reason.

Oconto Falls Sno-Jokers – Trails are in good condition.

Lena Snowdrifters- Trails are open and in good to excellent condition. Grooming regularly.

Chase Sno Chasers Trails – Trails are open and in very good to excellent condition.
