Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – March 11, 2019

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 35-45 inches

Date of Report: March 11, 2019

Area Report:

Trail report for March 11, 2019– Trails are good to very good. It is presently about 4 deg above zero. Over the weekend the warmer temps softened the trails up. With the increased traffic over the weekend the nice groomed trails did not last very long. We got a few inches of snow yesterday. The groomers will be out tonight and early tomorrow morning and do what they can to make a nice trail for you. Follow all directions from the groomer. The extended forecast does not look good. We expect warmer temps and rain by the middle of the week. Our trails have plenty of base but with extended warmer temps and rain will deteriorate our trails very fast. Get out and ride while we still have good conditions. I was even out on the trails this weekend and had a blast with the boyz!   Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

EAGLE RIVERS  TRAILS
On average GOOD with areas of VERY GOOD

March 11 2019 6:58am  – 12  – High 29

On average 3 inches of new SNOW yesterday.

Trails are holding very well even with the heavy, heavy traffic this weekend.  Along with warmer temps.  Today a bit of a drop.  High of 29 & overnight low of 8 tonight.  The levels did drop this weekend but there is so much SNOW on the ground there is still plenty to ride on & good riding.

Grooming again last night. The gts.groomertrackingsystem.com shows almost the entire trail system was groomed.  Here are the trails NOT groomed:

Trail 1N to Eagle Lake boat launch
Uncle Kent’s

SNOW became “sticky” over the weekend as it softened up.  When riding & letting up on the throttle sled slows down pretty quickly.  Corners are in many sections piled high with SNOW. Not much sun yesterday but there was on Friday so there are a few corners with ice a the bottom.  Icy conditions on sections of the road trails & there are bare areas where the sun got to the roads.  With the temps up & the heavy amount of sand, salt & brine on the roads the crossing are soft & there is water on the actual roads as you cross.  If there is snirt at the crossing not much.  Not riding myself due to a sled  problem.  Took a vehicle ride on Sunday & did not see any snirt in town, on trail 70W  17S70W intersection, 10E of town , 3/alt13, Manske swamp or 17N.  Will check out again today & let you know how things look.

All in all it’s really GOOD to VERY GOOD riding out there.  If you are riding sure you noticed that Trail 17N is sitting very high up.  Same with sections of 10E.  Please read the important updates for more info.  Mushy snow at the crossings is at a minimal.  Please stay on your side of the trail.

These important updates continue:

There is 1 logging operations going on where there is a need to use parts of the trails. Trail 13N by Deep Lake Rd. Plus utility work on 7 near Sugar Camp on the high line.

The snowbanks at driveway crossing & road crossings are still high. Road crews are still out winging road banks.  Expect some blocked road & driveway crossings.  Please stop & cross with caution.

Still seeing some signs buried in the deep SNOW.  Mostly the face of the sign covered.

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Lakes are drifted & lots & lots of slush under the SNOW especially on Catfish Lake.  Moguls on Eagle Lake is much worse than on Catfish Lake.

The 2 one-way trail areas are 10E from the ERRA Sports Arena all the way out to Nicolet Mini Mart.  The other is the 13’s up near Buckatabon Bridge & Bauer’s Dam area.  Please be aware that for now signs will be buried in many locations.  PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK A MAP SO YOU KNOW THE LOCATION OF THESE TRAILS.

Get out & ride!
