Vilas County trails remain CLOSED at this time
News and Reports:
We had our county inspection on Wednesday and we passed. The last 2 clubs were being inspected on Thursday. All we are missing is more snow. The forecast for today is for 2-4” of snow. We will see what next week brings as far as temperatures. I know everyone is got the itch to ride and we have the itch to get out to do some grooming. Till then, we continue to clear trees and cut brush back where we can.
As soon as we have word of when the trails will open, we will post it. Keep doing the snow dance.

Waiting on snow. That seems to be the statement of most snowmobile clubs right now. Good news is we are under a Winter Storm Advisory today! Keep your snow dances going in hopes we get the high-end projections of this storm. Meanwhile we have been packing swamps to get more frost and prepare them to groom when we do receive snow. We will update tomorrow on conditions after today’s snow.

No groomers rolling yet. We didn’t get much new snow, so there’s not a lot we can do with the trails. It appears we held on to the base, so that’s awesome! Ice scratchers may be needed with the hard packed trail surface.
Also an important trail update: Trail #472 has a signage change.
There is currently a snow and ice pile in the middle of the trail, but will be removed by our groomer as soon as we can get out there.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Closed
Still SNOW on the ground 6 miles east of Eagle River. It is icy with a thin covering. 4 at most. Earlier this morning there was some LEF SNOW. About an inch. Tomorrow, Thursday 4+ inches of real SNOW. Stay tuned. With all that said need you to START DOIN A SNOW DANCE! Need way more SNOW to be able to open the trails.
The Vilas County Parks & Rec Supervisor has been out last week & this week inspecting all 11 clubs trails. Will complete on December 19th. Then it’s a waiting game for more SNOW to open. Monthly Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance meeting tonight in Boulder Jct.
Sno-Eagles are using the roller & Argo to help drive the frost down & have been panning to build a hard icy frozen base. As I have been reporting there is a re-route of the Trail 3 aka Manske Swamp that is still being worked on. When all done I will post a map with the trail updates. Trail 17 aka Hiawatha Trail has be rehab-ed. No more going in that wet mushy section just before Kick Back & Hiawatha motel. Alt Trail 13 that heads south to Three Lakes remains CLOSED. Trail 17S that connects with the Sugar Camp trails remains the same but there is a short re route where Eagle River Sno-Eagles connect. Another landowner closure. Map of that to follow too.
If you haven’t already, it’s time to renew your membership and purchase your discounted Trail Pass from the AWSC. Sno-Eagles AWSC Click on these links to do both
Keep THINKIN’ COLD! A loud SNOW DANCE IS DEFINITELY IN ORDER!!
