Area Report:

We picked up another 6″ of fluffy snow yesterday.  Panning of our trails continue with volunteers going out to run the swamps and wet areas so they can freeze up better this coming week.  Trails are set to open on December 20 at 8:00 a.m. Please remember that even though there is plenty of snow, use cation until the trails get packed in with sled traffic.   Currently, North Twin and Lac Vieux Desert Lakes are not marked and travel on these are not advised until the trail is marked across them.

Snowmobile Information:

Phelps is located approximately 15 northeast of Eagle River in the heart of the Nicolet National Forest.  Corridor trail 6 traverses through the Phelps area connecting to Forest county to the east and Conover and Land O Lakes to the west.  Trail 17 connects to the south to the Eagle River area. Our nearly 40 miles of trails meanders on both publc and private properties. Grooming is do with our Sure track tractor and our latest purchase of a New Holland T6070 with Soucy track system.

The Phelps area is home to great eating and tavern facilities that cater to the snowmobiling community.  Please stop in and thank them for there support.

Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 12/12/2019)

Snowfalls from the past couple weeks have left our area with up to 22-30″ of snow in many places, however, many trails remain CLOSED to snowmobile traffic at this time until the clubs can get out there and properly groom and prepare the trails for use. The clubs and the Douglas County Forestry Department are actively working on preparing and inspecting trails for safe frozen conditions in wet areas, removal of any deadfalls, and proper signing before opening. PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open.

The following all-season trails are currently open to ATV, UTV, and Snowmobiles:
