Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – January 8, 2020

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 12+ in the woods, plenty of base on the trails

Date of Report: January 8, 2020

Area Report:

Good news….The trails are getting better everyday.  The nightly grooming schedule is getting more complete with everyday.  We have been able to groom over 80% of the trails at this point.  We are down to just a few sections that the groomer can’t get through (wet spots).  The wet spots all can be avoided with snowmobiles (the areas do not cover the entire trail).

There is plenty of base and the groomers are reporting the trails are good to very good condition.

The majority of the lakes are not marked at this point.  They should be considered unsafe unless they are marked. I believe marking of the lakes will be happening soon.

As we continue to get the trails in great condition, grooming can be happening all day.  Please ride safely and keep an eye out for the groomers and fellow riders.

Trail Report – : Three Lakes – Brule River, Wisconsin – January 8, 2020

Reporter:Threelakeswi

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 12-16”

Date of Report: January 8, 2020

Area Report:

Our trail system is open with the exception of the trail noted below. Trails have a great base with ample amount of snow. Most of our swamps are now good and frozen. We are grooming on a nightly basis. Remember it is law to yield to the groomer.

Trail 13 to sugar camp from rice lake road to sugar camp trails is closed until further notice. It is not safe with running water in the swamp.

Lakes, they are not marked and will not be marked until they are safe.

If you come across a tree that has fallen or something that you may see unsafe, please message us on Facebook. Please try and get the trail or the tin(trail identification number) that are located at all intersections.

Please be safe out there, it has been a horrific fall getting the trail system open this year with all the storms. We have thousands of hours getting trails ready for your safety and enjoyment.

If you like our trails, be sure to put a few dollars in our donation boxes in your favorite establishment, if you see something you don’t like, message us on Facebook and let us know, we will do what we can to fix it.

Winter Snowmobile and All-Season Trails (As of 1/7/2020)

Douglas County is freezing again! Many of the trails are still open but do have some water on the trails and maybe rough in spots. These spots are still passible, just proceed with caution while riding our trails.  Clubs have been working hard to get the trail system open. Approximately 90% of Douglas County Trails are open.

PLEASE check the trail you intend to use is open and do not trespass on private property. It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property.  It just takes one owner to deny the use of their land for a trail to be permanently shut down, so please be courteous and wait for the trails to officially open.
