Lake Minocqua Partially Marked for Snowmobile Traffic
Minocqua, WI — Lake Minocqua is building ice slowly and continues to improve in quality but a few open areas and dangerously thin ice areas remain.
The lake has been partially marked as of Jan. 23, 2020 by the Cross Country Cruisers snowmobile club. The club highly encourages everyone to stay next to the markers and barrels at all times as this is the safest option when venturing out onto any lake.
The trail that travels east to west under the Hwy 51 bridge is closed and is deemed unsafe for travel due to very inconsistent and thin ice conditions near the HWY 51 bridge.
All temporary road routes in Minocqua are now closed due to the new access on area lakes.
See the attached map with the marked lake trails detailed in blue and all temporary routes that are now closed, in red.

Trail report for January 24, 2020 – Trails are good to very Good. We got a little snow yesterday and expect to get some more snow over the next few days. With the temps staying in the 30’s the trails are getting very soft which can create bumps very quickly. The temps are expected to stay in the 30’s over the next couple of days and heavier traffic over the weekend which will not help us out any. We will continue to do the best we can to groom out a nice trail for you to ride. With these warmer temps it can become very slick out there so watch out.  Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trails are in Excellent Condition and Everything was groomed again last night. Temps are a little warmer that we would like to keep the trails hard and firm but the 1-2 inches of snow we are receiving almost daily is very nice. Weekend traffic is here but I do not anticipate it being nearly as busy as last weekend.

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – January 23, 2020

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 9-16 inches of snow

Date of Report: January 23, 2020

Area Report:

Hello Riders!

It has been a great week of riding! The trails have a fabulous base and lots of snow, the lakes have good ice and now in the last week with the new snow falls there is snow on the lakes! What else to report other than it’s excellent out there!

Groomers are always out grooming trails and making sure signage is where it needs to be. This group of volunteers is pretty amazing with their work and dedication they put in! They are out all week repairing from the busy weekends and preparing for the next. This last weekend brought an abundance of riders with the 3 day weekend and excellent conditions. Many groomers are out on the weekends but may not log quite as many hours due to safety with the heavy traffic. With a lot of snow, a great base and a lot of traffic, bumps can get created so please remember if you’re on a trail and you find it to be rough it is more than likely due to being a heavily traveled trail and it’s not due to neglect by a groomer. Sawyer County is pretty spectacular with their system and how they divide their trails between clubs evenly and log their hours, we want to be able to groom as the logged hours are what assist the county in funding for the trails so they are out there all the time! But if you do encounter a trail condition you find needs attention please let us know, it so easy to do! Just pop on sawyercountyalliance.com and on the right side you will see Report a Trail Issue and you can enter the info, it’s that easy! That gets sent to the appropriate area where it gets promptly reported to the trail captain of that section. We always appreciate the extra set of eyes out there!

Speaking of grooming there is a trail update for trail 6 from Ojibwa to Airborne Rd is still closed and the detour is still in place. The crew did remove some down trees and determined grooming could resume from Airborne Rd to the dam.

Lake Hayward is now staked all the way across.

Surrounding counties are open and excellent as well.

The trails are amazing, the scenery is beautiful, the weather temps are perfect, get out and ride!
