Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – January 6, 2025

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: Dismal

Date of Report: January 6, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

Still not a lot to report. The ground is white, and the subzero and single digit temperatures have hardened up the base, and the lakes. Not sure how Fence is doing out in the middle, but we have a club meeting tonight so I will get an update from Donny. Our 75 acre lake has been growling for a week. We need snow, and January looks quiet so far. Lake effect snow belt areas in Michigan are the areas to ride right now. Follow Stretch on Facebook. Took advantage of the lull in the activity to help young friends from Next Gen Riders, Nick and Lyndsay, put a new furnace in their new house Saturday. We have our Northern Hornshoe Christmas Bash January 18th at Harrison’s Pub in Lac Du Flambeau. It was a big hit last year. I will post more details with my next Eeyore the Donkey snow report. Time to go outside and freeze my tail off. Mark

Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – January 5, 2025

Reporter:AJ’s Walleye Lodge

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: Light

Date of Report: January 5, 2025

Area Report:

Trails in the Lake Gogebic Area were groomed Friday night and reported in much better shape than anticipated.

The North end of Lake Gogebic received over 10” of snow in the past 2 days;  and the South end of Lake Gogebic has received about 3”.    The lake effect snow we’ve received was actually making moisture when circulated from blade to drag and set up tight! It’s cold, so that definitely helped.    Swamp’s remain frozen with thin and icy spots and some perfect spots.

  • 1n, 1s and 102 were groomed Friday
  • Trail 8 west (railroad grade) East out of Bergland reported as choppy and thin
  • 13 N to Rockland is not being groomed at this time due to icy conditions.
  • 13S remains closed
  • Trails in the South end of Lake Gogebic are reported as very icy.

Trail Report – : Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan – January 3, 2025

Reporter:SaultSteMarie

Trail Conditions: Open

Snow Cover: 12″+

Date of Report: January 3, 2025

Area Report:

Remember, the Soo is sled friendly and most city streets are legal to ride!
City trails have some moguls, as expected, but they will groom up nicely with the new snow in town.
Trail #8 is pretty flat, considering it hasn’t been groomed since before the warm up. Lots of fresh snow, until about 5 Mile where it gets noticeably thinner.
Hopefully, the lake effect bands will be hitting west of us as forecasted today. 6-10” is expected, so we’ll see how it goes!

Iron Snow Shoe ATV/UTV Trails are OPEN North of C in the woods right now and all town & county roads are OPEN YEAR ROUND.  Wood trails are CLOSED south of County Rd C

Iron Snow Shoe Snowmobile Trails are CLOSED.  Sorry….No snow right now.  The rain washed it all away.  Good News…It is supposed to get colder this week.  Pray for snow.

All of the snowmobile trail is bushed and signed and ready for more snow.  The trail maintenance in the Homestead Lake Trail area off of County Road I is all complete and turned out great.  It was completely reshaped, large rocks removed, new gravel and graded.

There is a small trail change from Sportman’s Cafe to Boat Landing 3 Road.

We will keep you up dates on the trail by Jungle Jim’s.
