GTS Trails app shows groomers out in the last 24 hours
ALL trails groomed EXCEPT 17N, 1N & S, 10E,
3N & WI River section of 10/13

Groomers were out last night grooming. All trails heading west were groom except the east side of Wisconsin River Bridge area of 10/13.  It was groomed on the west side after crossing the bridge.  Trails heading east weren’t groomed last night but were groomed Sunday night.  Rode those trails yesterday & the east trails were FAIR to GOOD.

Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp is now open. This trail is a cut across between 13N & 17N.

Off trail riding continues to be a problem throughout Vilas county.  What this is doing is jeopardizing trail easements & will cause trail section closures.  Please once again stay on marked trails.

ONEIDA COUNTY trails open at noon Tuesday, January 26.
No word on FOREST COUNTY.

Took a 50+ ride yesterday afternoon from about 6 miles east on 10E to trail 1S that takes you to Eagle lake.  10E was Good. 1S was Fair. Eagle lake frozen tight by barrels.  1S from boat launch to trail 17N had areas of snirt & grit under the tree area but pretty smooth.  17N that comes out on Columbus road was gritty with some small bumps & Fair.  17S heading toward highway 45N was Fair to Good.  Sections under trees on 17S was gritty.  Was happy to see 3N aka Manske Swamp trail open.  It is frozen tight & pretty smooth & Good.  From trail 3N intersection of 10/13N it was bumpy & gritty & not groomed.  This was the case all the way to the other side of the Wisconsin River bridge to where 10 & 13 split out west.  Took 10 back toward Eagle River to include the spur that comes out by Uncle Kent’s. All Good.  To get back to 10/13 we rode the ditchline. That is not a grooming area so it was an Adventure.  Back to town with the “grade” in Good to Very Good condition.  South all the way to Oneida county line & turned around & came back.  Very Good to Excellent.  10E back home.  Taking the Catfish lake loop.  10E heading west was Fair to Good.

Date of Report: January 25, 2021

Area Report:

The Frosty Club groomers have been out and all Frosty Club trails are in fair to good condition. A little snow each day and cold temps (-4) have really improved trail conditions. Are they perfect??? NO. Are they worth the trip to Land O Lakes and surrounding trail systems?  HELL YEA!  If you wait for perfection conditions you may never get out this season.

Hope to see you in Land O Lakes as this is the time to ride before the weekend traffic arrives.

UPDATES

Groomers were out last night grooming many of the trails in & around Eagle River. With the cold temps overnight the trails should helped lay a really nice trail with loose SNOW on top. Corners are icy.  Best riding with most SNOW is still Northwest & east of town.  It’s still Adventure Sledding.  All kinds of conditions out there.

Sledding traffic picked up on Saturday.  Many riders out all over.

Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp is now open. This trail is a cut across between 13N & 17N.

Off trail riding continues to be a problem throughout Vilas county.  What this is doing is jeopardizing trail easements & will cause trail section closures.  Please once again stay on marked trails.

Last week off trail riding on Catfish lake took the life of a snowmobiler.  He was no where near the barrels that are placed on Catfish & Eagle by businesses on those lakes. To include the spur to Eagle Waters. This was completely avoidable. Please stay by the markers to be safe. Entire lakes are NOT safe.

ONEIDA COUNTY trails open at noon Tuesday, January 26.  No word on FOREST COUNTY.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – January 25, 2021

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: A couple of inches

Date of Report: January 25, 2021

Area Report:

Oneida County Trails will open on Tuesday, January 26th.  The couple of inches of fresh powder that was received over the weekend has given the county enough to open the trails.  Nothing to sugar coat here….They are rideable, but they are early season conditions (hard to believe being the last week in January).  As long as folks fully understand that, we can do the best we can with the conditions.

All of the groomers are out, trying to get everything panned out and set up prior to the opening.  Will the trails hold up to a pounding of sleds this weekend, of course not.  Can you go out and ride and find a mixed bag of conditions – definitely.

Early season conditions can mean: the forest roads and some fields will be the best.  The swamps, and new trails, will be bumpy and have grass showing through.

Let’s be safe, and hope what is in the forecast for this weekend, happens.

Trail Report – : Walworth County, Wisconsin – January 25, 2021

Reporter:Ryan Strand

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 4-8″

Date of Report: January 25, 2021

Area Report:

Trails are open and range from poor to good condition depending on the location.  Many of the chisel plowed fields need more snow this is where you will find the poor spots.  But there are many fair to good spots mixed in.  Take it easy out there as it is still thin and icy in spots.  The good spots with plenty of snow cover grew some bumps from the weekend traffic.  Anywhere from 2-8″ forecasted for tonight and tomorrow should make things great as long as we get at least 2″ throughout the county.   Groomers will be out to smooth things out from the weekend traffic and to work the new snow.  It should only get better from here!  We will report back as more snow falls tonight/ tomorrow.  Enjoy!

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 4-8″

Date of Report: January 25, 2021

Snowmobile Information:

I made my first groomer run last night. Lot to learn with new equipment and the area, but there was adequate snow to work with the 4″ we had Saturday night. Trail 17 still has some thin spots but much improved over Saturday. Quite a few bumpy areas around the Casino ob trail 5, and there was a lot of traffic after the Packer game, but they flattened out well. We are rating “good” but use caution and be on alert for thin spots, and a few ruts still afoot. As always, ride safe, and stay on the trails. Check us out at www.hornshoe.org. Wolf

Trail Report – : Price County – Park Falls, Phillips & Prentice, Wisconsin – January 25, 2021

Trail Conditions: Poor

The Price County Trail system consist of over 500 miles of scenic trails, great places to stop to fill up on fuel, food and beverages. The trails are maintained by 9 clubs and reported by the two Chambers.
We invite you to take a trip and see all that Price County has to offer.
As of today the Price County Snowmobile trails are now closed.
Thank you to all the clubs and volunteers that have made this another great year. Without all the time and support that you put in this would never happen.

Trail Report – : Stephenson County, Illinois – January 25, 2021

Reporter:Skinner

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 6+

Date of Report: January 25, 2021

Area Report:

Iam going to rate our trails in the Cedarville Travelers system as excellent. We started grooming on Friday and with the help of our new groomer driver (Jeff) we got the hole system done and flat before the snow came on Saturday night so if you want to ride in northwest Illinois now is the time and with the 4 to 7 we are to get tonight this will be about as good as it gets. The trails to east, north  and west are being groomed also. If you are going to come out and ride with us the Baymont Inns and Suites in Freeport has a super snowmobile rate at $76 a night including tax, the groomed trail comes out of there back door and you are less than a mile from the Jane Addams Trail head.

PLEASE STAY ON MARKED TRAILS as we work with a lot of land owners that have given us permission to cross there land, SO DON’T SCREW IT UP

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – January 24, 2021

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Minimal

Date of Report: January 24, 2021

Area Report:

Last night’s snowfall brought us 3-5″ of fresh snow.  This was a much need boost to our trail conditions.  There are still some rough areas, but overall good conditions.  We’ll be grooming as much as we can.

Watch out on trail 7 north of Stillwaters as we have reports of coyote hunters with their trucks on the trail.

  • Logging operations are continuing throughout the northwoods and in many areas where snowmobile trails are located.  Loggers have first priority!  PLEASE be respectful of them and make every attempt to stay out of their way.  DO NOT engage with them.  Loggers have a legal right to close any snowmobile trail where they are working.  They are being cooperative with the clubs and working with us the best they can.  PLEASE do not give them reason to close the trails.
  • There is absolute minimum base on the trail.  Be prepared to encounter many ruts, holes, rocks and little snow for hyfax lubrication.
  • Hintz’s North Star Lodge is currently closed.  Therefore, we have closed the trail leading to their establishment.  If and when they are open for business, we will reopen that trail.  Please respect them by not riding across their property.

Thank you for your patience and support while we await more snow.  Ride RIght and Stay Safe!
