Trail Conditions: Fair

Date of Report: January 12, 2021

Area Report:

Lake Gogebic Area trails are reporting to be thin, flat and in fair to good condition.    Use caution as a trail could be excellent in one spot and challenging in the next instant.    According to our groomers, one good plowable snowfall is going to push our trails from good to EXCELLENT conditions.    Snow is in the forecast with up to 6’ anticipated on Thursday , another 6” forecasted on Friday and for most of next week.    Mild temperatures will be with us through the weekend and then drop into the teens next week.   We are hoping that our Governor relaxes restaurant restrictions and we should know more in a couple days.   Until then – it’s take out and outdoor dining.

Groomers, business owners and staff and working really hard to get through these time and we certainly appreciate all the support we receive from our visitors and guests!   Lake Gogebic is the best place to stay and ride and we are all hoping to be able to open our doors and welcome you back!    Keep dancing for snow – and we will see you soon!

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – January 11, 2021

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6 inches

Date of Report: January 11, 2021

Area Report:

Hello Riders!

Northern end of the county are good conditions and southern end of the county are fair conditions.

While we haven’t had any new snow we have not had warm temps and our trails have held on to what they have quite nicely. Spoke to several riders throughout the weekend and today already, all seasoned riders and they continue to be surprised how good the trails have held up from the Flowage to the north! There are some rocks and some inside corners that have some washboard and the trails along the highways are pretty brown but once in the woods they are quite good.

Not many groomers have been out, a few and in some short distanced areas to not disrupt what is there. All this being said our forecast shows snow Thursday and Fri before the weekend!! This will be very much celebrated! Even a simple 3″ would make conditions in many areas of the county excellent!

As we have mentioned the sights in the Northwood’s have been breathtaking! Everything encased in frost makes the world up here look almost black and white! Riders seeing deer, eagles and ELK! A little fresh snow before the weekend will be just the soul food you all need to get your sleds and gear ready! We will update as we get closer to the weekend and see that snow fall!

All of the lakes have been reported to be staked with the exception of LCO, still some large grey areas. They are checking it several times this week and hope to perhaps have staked soon. We will update with that ETA as mother nature does her thing! Some lakes have slush. Always ride the staked trails, wondering away from them can provide open spots, stumps, rocks, heaves, fisherman shanties and tip ups, plowed ice roads for shanties that creates a berm, etc. Ride smart and safe!

Surround counties: Washburn and Bayfield Counties are open, Ashland, Price and Rusk are closed, Barron partially open.

Thanks again for tuning in and check back later in the week for the weekends update!
