Snow Cover: Looking better

Date of Report: January 22, 2025

Area Report:

The brutal cold snap is behind us and the temps are above 0 and it is snowing. The groomers will be back out tomorrow working their magic. We could definitely use more snow (like Florida has) but the trails are definitely rideable and the farther north u ride the better they get.

Snowmobile Information:

Our trails are nothing better than early-season riding. We’re not going to tell you to just leave your machines on the trailers and spend your money now that you’re in town. Riding anytime, but especially now, is a choice. If you feel conditions are not what you’d like to put your snowmobiles through, then don’t. For those who want to navigate the rocks and bare spots, we thank you for safely trying, and for your understanding. We want nothing more than for you to have the chance to get out and enjoy our slice of heaven. Please ride safe, be responsible, respect our landowners, and ride right! The following trail listing is current as of today. “Open” means we have run groomers on the trail noted. “Closed” does not mean you cannot ride a trail, but we have not put our larger equipment in these areas, so use extreme caution. Only trail 11a is 100% gates locked and closed to traffic all season due to logging. Enjoy your time in Northern Iron County and thank our businesses with your patronage.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6″ base

Date of Report: January 21, 2025

Area Report:

It’s been bitter cold the past 3 days and snowy. So far I’ve recorded 17″ in those three days putting us at a total of 171″ for the year here in Toivola.  The groomers have been out hitting most of the trails every night. However with such high traffic on the weekends it’s real hard keeping them flat.

Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 20, 2025

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 2-4 inches

Date of Report: January 20, 2025

Area Report:

At 8:00 am it is -21 degrees out with sunny skies. We have a slight warm up coming mid-week
with no significant new snow in sight. Well, opening weekend is in the books and the trails help up surprisingly well despite the lack of snow. Overall, they are in pretty good shape for this time of the year.
We groomed 15N last night and it is in good shape. Our groomer driver reported we have very
little snow to pull unto the trails to freshen them up, but they are flat and smooth. We will need
more snow to get them in great shape.
Thanks to all that supported us at our fundraising events this weekend, food sales at Wittig’s Ice Fishing contest and the snowmobile breakfast at Boulder Beer on Sunday morning. They were both a huge success.
Look for an updated trail report on Thursday, January 23 .

Area Report:

Been a long time since I could say we had a GREAT weekend riding the Frosty Club trails. YES we could use more snow but at least we are open and I think most folks enjoyed there time on the sleds. The groomers have been out every night doing there best out there. Thins aren’t great and there is ice so please slow down and BE SAFE.

Most lakes are marked and do provide good riding as well as the free riding weekend in MI which ends at Midnight.

Snowmobile Information:

Sunday Update. -17 This morning and sunny. Friday’s 38 degree temps with low traffic gave us a perfect storm. The puffy snow got warm, picked up moisture, then froze. Overall our trails are early season to good. F Trail from Gunlock to 47 is sorta bumpy, with some dirt showing in spots, but good. 17 from Mattke Rd to East Boundary is thin where the sun got at it so gravel is poking up but overall pretty good. East Boundary all the way to H is great. Club trail from H down to 47 is rutted, so stay in the center. From 47 down to Moss Lake is good. Farther down to Crawling Stone good. Keep going toward Fence where you link up with Thorofare is a little suspect where the construction was. Back up to 17 where it picks up at H – very good into the Raven.Raven Lake area was very good in the new construction area. 5 into the Casino needs some work. Truck ruts, but perfect if you stay in the middle.17 north from 5 good all the way to the tundra in the Powell Marsh, then you can see it’s thin. I called no Joy and came about at that point yesterday. Overall I was very pleased with what we have working with not a lot. I had lasagna with the Cruisers Friday night. Very good, and I joined the club. A special thank you to Cruisers for the use of their Piston Bully after Hornshoe 1 got a sore stomach last week. I also had a great breakfast with Mercer Snow Goers Club yesterday, and Matt and Renee and I are headed to Boulder for breakfast this morning. Our lakes are in great shape. Big heaves on Fence, and some smaller heaves on Crawling Stone. We will be marking lakes Friday, January 24. Pretty cool, I was able to cut and paste yesterday’s report, then edit for today. Now Mary wants me to send her this link to post on Facebook and our website. Cut, paste, post, link. That is a lot of technology for a guy that still can’t color inside of the lines with his crayons. Be safe my friends. Mark
