GTS Trails app shows groomers out in the last 24 hours
10/13 in town & north to Hwy G, 10W/7 trails, alt13S to Three Lakes,
10E plus 9mile trail groomed

Groomers were out last night grooming. Trails groomed are listed above.  Suggest buying a Sno-Eagles trail map to help with location of trails.  There are all sorts of conditions on the trails.  Found them to be on average FAIR.  Best riding is south to Three Lakes on alt13 & 10W due to more grooming.  Next would be 10E from 10E/1S intersection(Dollar Lake Rd area) & east improving as you get way out east.

Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp is now open. This trail is a cut across between 13N & 17N.

When riding the trail 10 spur that comes out on Hwy G it dead ends at Uncle Kent’s.  To head south to pick up 10/13 it is necessary to ride the ditchline not the road shoulder.  Be careful as the ditchline is not marked with signs.

Lake Snow yesterday afternoon.  Less than an inch.  Keep Dancin’

Off trail riding continues to be a problem throughout Vilas county.  What this is doing is jeopardizing trail easements & will cause trail section closures.  Please once again stay on marked trails.

ONEIDA COUNTY trails are now OPEN.  As of yesterday’s report lakes are not marked yet.  Sno-Eagles trails connect with the Three Lakes trails using 10E & alt13.  Sugar Camp via 17S & 7 aka Paintball field trail.

The little bit of snow we picked up this past weekend has helped.  More snow is needed to really get our trails into shape.  Expect some rough areas and possible bare spots.  We are back to grooming but there is not a lot of snow to work with.  This week looks like around normal temps.  Not much of snow forecast until the weekend.  Please stay on the marked trails bothe on land and on the lakes.  Enjoy your trip through Phelps.  Please stop in and support our map sponsers.

Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – January 26, 2021

Reporter:haywardlakes

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 8-9

Date of Report: January 26, 2021

Area Report:

Hello Riders!

Received new snow over night. The following stakes trails:

Trails 3/5 between Moose Lake and Lost Land Lake.

Trail 5 to Spider Lake

9 to Twin Lake Tap – Trail 9 between the Tap and Hayward Power Sports is a VERY heavily traveled trail section and is in the open and near the road, even with a lot of snow this trail gets rough and they constantly groom it in the season but it is hard to keep up with its traffic. The plus side is it isn’t a very long section but more of a connector.

Trail 18 south of the bridge between Tiger Cat and Callahan is groomed, north of the bridge will not be groomed until more snow.

3/21 to the north groomed and 3/21 to the south to River.

Trail 5 to the south will not be groomed yet due to there being rocks on that trail and the groomer will uproot them into the trail but also break cleats and other parts of the drag grooming over.

Trail 77 and 8 groomed

Trail 5 to Black Iron Trail 22 and 31/77 groomed.

Trail 31 south from Hayward to Grindstone was groomed but rough due to the need of more snow.

Trail 9 south to the Flowage will be groomed.

Tuscobia reported to be flat and white.

Southern area near Flambeau Forest and Birchwood will not be grooming until more snow falls.

These areas, from the Chippewa Flowage to the north are rideable.

The Chippewa Flowage reports to be in good shape. Other lakes report to be in fair shape. Spider Lake has been rough this season.

Lac Courte Orielles is staked finally.

Lake Hayward trail exiting/entering the lake behind Market Place is closed as it has opened area. Please use the entrance/exit behind Holiday Inn. Open water by the bowling alley area on Lake Hayward.

Trail 18 entrance/exit on the Flowage at R & R is open.

Riders also, please STAY ON the marked trails! Trespassing and going off approved trails on private property has been huge issue this year. This is how we lose trails that we can never get back. Please do not ruin this, ride smart and be respectful.

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – January 26, 2021

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Minimal

Date of Report: January 26, 2021

Area Report:

We’ve got some good news to report!  The Oneida county trail system is opening at noon today (1/26/2021).  Their lake routes remain closed until they are clearly marked and trails are considered to be in rough, early season condition.  Please get out and support all of those establishments that have been waiting so long for this opening.

The Barnstormers have been grooming on a regular basis and I’m happy to report that the majority of our system is in good condition.  There are still a few select areas that remain rough due to lack of snow, especially near logging operations, but overall we’re in pretty good shape.  Reports from riders we’ve talked with have been very positive.

  • Logging operations are continuing throughout the northwoods and in many areas where snowmobile trails are located.  Loggers have first priority!  PLEASE be respectful of them and make every attempt to stay out of their way.  DO NOT engage with them.  Loggers have a legal right to close any snowmobile trail where they are working.  They are being cooperative with the clubs and working with us the best they can.  PLEASE do not give them reason to close the trails.
  • The trail base remains thin.  Be prepared for some scraping, rocks, and ruts.
  • Hintz’s North Star Lodge is currently closed.  Therefore, we have closed the trail leading to their establishment.  If and when they are open for business, we will reopen that trail.  Please respect them by not riding across their property.

Thank you for your patience and support while we await more snow.  Ride Right and Stay Safe!

Boulder Junction Trail Report 1/26/21

With rideable trails, cooler temps, and a chance for snow, we had more riders in our area this weekend. From Thursday through Sunday we had 1,013 sleds go by our trail counter. Our groomers were out everyday this past weekend.

With minimal snow predicted for this week, but colder temps, we will continue to groom our trails. All of our trail system was groomed on Monday to give our midweek riders some decent trails.

Trail 2W to Manitowish Waters is shaping up and we are finally getting the ruts and divots filled in along Bear Lake Road. This trail is rated fair to good with excellent riding on Keego Lake Road.

Trail 8W to Manitowish Waters is thin in the hilly sections and is rated fair to good with excellent riding on Day Lake Road north and south of the intersections of 8W & 51S.

Trails 15N & 6E have improved with the weekend snow and are rated as fair to good with the road portion of 6E very good.

Trails 15S and 8E have also improved with the weekend snow and are rated as fair to good with the road portion of 8E as excellent.

I will be doing an on sled trail inspection on Wednesday and will provide an updated trail report on our next post.

Trail advisory: If riding on the Boulder Junction airport spur trail, please stay on the edge of the runway parallel to the road in both directions. Damage has been done to the runway and if it continues, we could potentially lose access to this trail.

If you are going to be riding our trails, please be careful, stay on the marked trails, and have a good time.

Think snow!
