Trail Report – : Boulder Junction, Wisconsin – January 27, 2025

Reporter:boulderwi

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 1-4″

Date of Report: January 27, 2025

Area Report:

At 8:00 am it is 22 degrees out with cloudy skies with light snow starting today into tomorrow.
All of our trails were groomed or panned prior to this past weekend. We tried to preserve our
thin base and pulled new snow in where we could. Because of the colder temps and cloud cover, our trails have held up to the traffic. That will
change with any warmup and sunny conditions which we are expecting to see on Thursday.
Our trails are in fair condition with a 1”- 4” base with some icy patches and dirt starting to come
through. Our road trails are in very good condition and our road and town routes still have
enough packed snow on them. We did lose a groomer this week and will be down to 1 groomer. We will get out and groom
after this upcoming snow.  Look for an updated trail report on Thursday, January 30th .

Riding is adventure sledding right now.  Not perfect.  Not bad!!  There was a fatality this past Saturday in Vilas County.  Please, please slow down!

Snowmobile Information:

So, if you are older, this may be funny. If you are younger I may be “funny”. Back in 1978 the series “WKRP in Cincinnati” aired. Travis asked Nes about his eyewitness weather report. ” Well, I look out the window and witness the weather” Then Travis asks him how he can do helicopter traffic reports without a helicopter, and he starts beating on his chest to make it sound like a helicopter as he does his report from the sound booth. Sometimes I trail report from my sled, today by helicopter in my jammies.

Hornshoe Trailboss Nick reported thin but rideable yesterday. We had decent traffic yesterday, and my spot-checks in the afternoon showed it. We are beat up and a little scrawny out in the open areas, better in the woods. A friend rode Mercer and reported yesterday afternoon thin, but rideable, as did a groomer from Manitowish Waters this morning. White Thunder Riders to the north are still reporting positive.Weather is 30 today, chance of snow 53%, 36 tomorrow, chance of snow 73%, then 21 degrees and 15%  Wednesday and 41 degrees Thursday. After that warmer temps, but below freezing, with a chance of snow every day, for quite a distance out. I will wait until Thursday to report for the weekend as this could be good.

MS Riders are coming this week starting Wednesday, and they stay at the casino. Northern Hornshoe Club sponsors lunch at our barn Friday. They show up every year to raise money for a good cause, and they come by sled, or by bus, no matter what the conditions. An amazing group of genuine, down to earth, fun, snowmobilers, and non-snowmobilers, that just like to try and make a difference, and have fun.

Talk to you Thursday. Mark

Trail Report – : Lake Gogebic | Bergland, Michigan – January 25, 2025

Reporter:AJ’s Walleye Lodge

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Good

Date of Report: January 25, 2025

Area Report:

The snow we’ve received over the past few day’s has been really helpful in freshening things up! It’s a very busy weekend in the Lake Gogebic Area.  Groomers are doing the best they can – they smooth the trails out and by the afternoon there are module which freeze up tight.   Trails are being hit every night but can’t keep up.

  • Trail 102: ok condition – still needs attention and being groomed nightly
  • 8w to Wakefield: horrible condition and was groomed Friday night.
  • 13n to Rockland wasn’t terrible and is also groomed nightly.

Groomers are out nightly and snow conditions have improved significantly, ut high traffic detoriatestrails quickly.

Snow in the forecast this week and much needed!

Don’t forget to get your 50/50 tickets for the Gogebic Area Grooming Benefit to take place at the Lake Gogebic Community Poker Run on March 22nd!!
