Cold morning in Eagle River!  Sorry for the late update.  Was at the Packer Game. How ’bout those Packers!! Double digits below zero last night.  Sun is out this morning with high of 24 today & lows 20’s high tomorrow.  Back to the teens for highs Thursday until next Monday.  Lows at night will be single digits or below zero.  Snow forecast Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.  Not totals yet.  Time for a SNOW DANCE!

Trails are SNOW covered & in EARLY RIDING CONDITION.  Didn’t get out to ride yesterday.  Looks about half the system was groomed overnight. Here are the trails that were groomed in Eagle River by the Sno-Eagles last night

  • Trail 10/13 through town in both directions.  Heading south this trail connects to Trail 10E.  Heading north it was groomed all the way to the Conover connect.
  • Trail 10W/7 that heads toward Sayner to include the Uncle Kent spur was groomed.

At present the club is not grooming Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp or section of Trail 10/13 aka Wisconsin River Bridge trail.

REMINDER: Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN.
There is a re route on 10/13/7/17 heading west.  It’s rough ride now.  Rode it a couple of days ago & it is snow covered & conditions are improving.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 1/3/22:

It’s 3 degrees out this morning and the forecast calls for some much needed snow Tuesday into Wednesday. We have had heavy traffic over the holidays with over 4000 sleds going through town and our trails are getting thin without any recent significant snowfall. Our groomers were out last night and they report thinning trails and icy corners. Our road trails (6E) Old B, (8E) Nixon Lake Road, (51 & 8W) Day Lake Road, and (2W) Keego Road are still in good condition. 15S between Hwy K and the intersection of Sayner’ Trail 11 and  2W along Bear Lake Road have developed moguls which are hard to smooth  out without any new snow. Generally are trails are rated as fair with some good trails mixed in. Enjoy our trails, be safe, and check for an updated report on Wednesday, 1/5/22.

Lake Chetek will be working on staking Monday. We will confirm when they are complete. But please do note, VERY important, a trail was plowed by a fisherman across the lake crossing where the trail is marked. It is just south of the islands. There is a burn from that plowed area, please ride with caution.

Trail Report – : Rhinelander, Wisconsin – January 3, 2022

Reporter:Hodag SnoTrails

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: minimal base, some thin areas

Date of Report: January 3, 2022

Area Report:

There is one trail closure on the Hodag Sno-Trails system:  Trail H4 from Boom Lake to the intersection just north of River Rd.  This is basically the “land” route to not running Boom Lake.  The club is trying to work with the landowner regarding the issue.  The trail is closed at this point.

The groomers have been out packing the little bit of base there is.  They will be out at full strength this week filling holes as best they can and continuing to smooth out the trails from moderate use over the holiday weekend.  Trails are “fair” overall. The wooded trails have good areas.  The fields are thin, but flat.  The swamps are froze tight but have more uneven trail bed that cant be completed filled with the snow available.  The groomers are doing what they can with what is out there.  They are being careful not to pull the snow of the trail bed.

All of the lakes in the area have been marked. There is some logging in the area.  Trail 13 north from Haymeadow Road to Rasmusson Road.  Hopefully, they will be done in a week or so.  The trail is thin on the roadway from the logging operations.

Trail Report – : Phelps, Wisconsin – January 2, 2022

Reporter:Phelps Snowmobile Club

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 10″-15″

Date of Report: January 2, 2022

Area Report:

A very busy holiday weekend has passed.  The Phelps trail system held up good.  Grooming is being done while I type.  All areas have been groomed including our swamps.  The base we have is wearing well and good ton excellent conditions should be found this week.  The lake trails have been marked and riders should stay on the marked trail for safety.  Cold weather is in the forecast with snow perdicted midweek.  Sure could use  a good snowfall.  Please stay on the marked trails so that we don’t lose the privalage to use our private property crossing.  This is not out west with off trail riding.  This is trail riding.  Dress for the weather and ride safe.  And as alwys, think snow.

Snowmobile Information:

Phelps/Conover joint trailside cookout is Saturday January, 8 from 11:00-3:00 at the trail intersection of 6 and 45 where the clubs trails meet.  Food, refreashments, and lot’s of fun.  Hope to see you there.

Trail Report – : Keweenaw Peninsula / Houghton-Hancock, South Range, Copper Harbor, Michigan – January 2, 2022

Reporter:Stretch

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6″ – 8″ Base

Date of Report: January 2, 2022

Area Report:

Now that the holidays are over we can get a better hold of our trail system. With the cold temps and less traffic things should shape up real good for this upcoming weekend. We’ll be seeing highs in the teens and single digits for the next week plus there’s a chance 6″-12″ of snow the first part of this week. That will help get things in excellent conditions I’m hoping.

North in the Keweenaw things are looking real good with groomers running night and day. Most of our water holes are freezing over and snow covered. Trail 3 south from Houghton/ Hancock is in very good shape having more snow and grooming day and night make for excellent conditions. Things do get a little thinner around Greenland and Mass City but all trails are rideable with no problems getting into town.

Ride safe and please stay on the trails.

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: Thin

Date of Report: January 2, 2022

Snowmobile Information:

As of today, Northern Hornshoes will suspend grooming operations until we get more snow. The forecast is for some snow Tuesday or Wednesday. I ran to Walmart down 17 at 2:00 yesterday, and it was OK, then across 70, and north from Black Bear. Shish and Gunlock Lakes are good, and I was able to find snow on F, and the woods are good but thin. Then I ran 17 to 5 intersection toward the casino, and there are bare spots, and blown corners. Matt and Dick groomed last night, so they leveled what little we have, but until there’s more snow, it is not work working it. Will advise mid-week. Mark

Area Report:

A Great Holiday week is coming to a close today. A combination of cooperation from Mother Nature and a lot of hard work by the trail boss and groomer operators made it a week to remember. Some cold and snow in the forecast so we should be in for a good week of riding with much less traffic.

EAGLE RIVER TRAILS IN EARLY SEASON RIDING CONDITION

January 2, 2022 – 6:45am – 6 degrees

Chilly this morning.  Might reach 10 degrees this afternoon.  Then headed below zero.  6 below later tonight.  Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday daytime temps will pop up to the 20’s with SNOW Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.  Stay tuned for totals.  Cold for the next week so SNOWS not going anywhere.

Trails are SNOW covered & in EARLY RIDING CONDITION.  Pretty surprised at the trail conditions.  Fair to Good.  Not a big change in SNOW totals or conditions. Of the trails ridden Trail 3N aka Manske Swamp is rough with heavy chop at the west end were it connects to Trail 10/13N.  Trail 10/13 aka Wisconsin River Trail is very rough with moguls. Both trails are north of town.  Trail 70/13/7 that heads west from behind the Dairy Queen in town has rough areas from the re route & heading west until you come out by Synergy Salon.  All areas that can have mush are frozen tight.  Trail 10E has snirt at the Loon Lake Rd crossing.  This is just before you get to Trail Alt 13.  Left to Three Lakes SNOW covered. Right into Eagle River fantastic.

Catfish & Eagle lake trails were marked & are NOW OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  Note the spur from the northside Eagle Lake boat launch that leads to Eagle Waters is NOT OPEN.

Overnight the groomers groomed nearly the entire Eagle River Sno-Eagles trails according to Groomer Tracking app.

Only trails not groomed were Trail 3 aka Manske Swamp, Trail 10/13 aka Wisconsin River Bridge. All of these sections are north of Eagle River where Eagle River trails connect to the Conover trails. Short section of Trail 17N from Trail 1 east heading to Phelps.

Have trail photos? Send them to me at info@baysidelodgingrentals.com  Would like to post them on the report.
