It’s a chilly-4 in Phelps right now with -20’s forcasted tonight. Trails are back into the good to excellent conditions once again. Heavy traffic over the past few weekends. More snow is needed to help maintain the trails. Everyone is doing the best they can with what we have. Milder temps for later in the wek and it should be a great weekend to ride.
Douglas County Received 1 – 4 inches of fresh snow across the county over the weekend. Most trails have been groomed and are in fair to good Riding conditions. There are still areas of dirt poking through on some of the trails. As Grooming reports come in the Trail Conditions will be updated.
Douglas County Forestry does not maintain any trails across lakes. If you would like information of specific lake trails please contact the Snowmobile club in that area.
It is critical that we respect the landowners who allow us to utilize their property. Please Stay On Marked Trails.
Please share this info with anyone that you believe would be interested…our goal is to inform as many trail riders as possible.
Please check with neighboring counties to ensure the trails are open before you ride!

WIDE RANGE OF CONDITIONS
ON AVERAGE FAIR to GOOD
January 25, 2022 – 7:45 am 9 below zero – High of 3 today
Somebody left the freezer door open! It 9 below this morning & will only get to 3. So if you’re riding dress warm. Fully charge phone in an inside pocket. Stop more often.
As for the trails really no change at all. Could use some fresh snow. As it’s crusty out there. Corners are icy. Didn’t ride yesterday. Probably won’t today as it’s a tad bit too cold. Riding tomorrow for sure and will get you a detail riding report. Heading east on 10E working our way toward Phelps tomorrow then come into Eagle River using Trail 17N. Will run Catfish & maybe Eagle to let know the conditions.
The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows spot grooming Eagle River last night. Here are the trails THAT WERE GROOMED overnight
Trail 10W/13N – From the groomer barns in Eagle River across from Derby Track north all the way to the Wisconsin River Bridge section.
Wisconsin River Bridge section west to the 10W/13N intersection.
10W – West toward Sayner. To include grooming 7S.
Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN. To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels. DO NOT think the entire lake is safe. There have been several sleds going into the water this winter. ALL were not where near a trail.
Sure would like trail photos so I can post to the report to let other riders see the real time conditions. Send them to info@baysidelodgingrentals.com
Please KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE! Never enough SNOW!
See ya on the trails!!

Trails in the Lake Gogebic Area area all in good to excellent condition. Temps today are going to be frigid and then warming up to the high teens/20’s later this week. Continuous snow is keeping trails fresh. All Gogebic Area Groomers are running – and are doing a great job! Snow is in the forecast later this week to make for an awesome weekend! Dress warm – plan your stops – ride safe!!!
Cold now. Colder tomorrow. that is the good news as trails are set up nicely and also he bad news as you must bundle up to stay safe. A little new snow each day (but no dumping unfortunately) has allowed our groomers to keep the trails in good to excellent condition.
