Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Monday, 2/7/22:

It’s 10 degrees out this morning with light snow falling overnight. Our forecast calls for milder temps through midweek with light snow on Wednesday.

Last night, we groomed 2W to Keego Road and 8W to Day Lake Road. Early this morning, we groomed 8E, 15S, and 11.

With heavy traffic this past weekend, our trails are getting thin in the corners and we are getting down to our ice base. We need more new snow to improve our trails, but are still in good riding condition.

Enjoy our trails, be safe, and wish for snow! Check for an updated report on Wednesday, 2/9/22.

Date of Report: February 7, 2022

Area Report:

February 7, 2022 – 5:34am 11 – High of 20 today – 8 tonight

SNOW yesterday.  2 clippers came through again yesterday.  These 2 left a total of 3+- inches of SNOW by late afternoon east of town.  Wet SNOW for the first time in a while.  Also no evil sun at all yesterday.  There’s SNOW in the forecast for Wednesday & Friday in the AM.  No totals.  Stay tuned.

Trails remain the same & need SNOW.  Base varies as well.  Thick in some areas, mainly in the under cover areas to thin or gone in the wide open areas.  In town 10/13 is really in need of more new SNOW & it’s Fair to Poor.  As I’ve been reporting best riding is on trails that have tree cover.  10W, 13N & a lot of 10E heading east where the trail is on the southside of Hwy 70E where the sun doesn’t get to it.  You will find Fair to Poor areas where the sun got to the SNOW.  But there is GOOD riding undercover.

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows groomers left the Groomer Barn along Hwy 45N near the Snowmobile Derby Track last night & groomed about 2/3rds of the trails. Here’s what they GROOMED

North-Groomed

  • Trail 10/13 from groomer barn to Hwy G crossing
  • Uncle Kent trail that starts along Hwy G north & west of Eagle River
  • Trail 10 & 7 heading west off of Uncle Kent trail to Sayner trails connect
  • Trail 13 heading north toward Buckatabon Lake/Bauers Dam connect with Conover trails

South & East-Groomed

  • Trail 10/13 through Eagle River past the Ice Castle
  • Trail Alt 13 down the grade to the intersection with Trail 10E
  • Trail 10E to connect with Three Lakes trails to include 9 mile – Except Grampa Grama (Trail 1) & Chanticleer trail that runs to south Eagle Lake entrance.

West & South West-Groomed

  • Trail 70 to the intersection near Honey Bear Restaurant.
  • Trail 17S from Honey Bear Restaurant intersection to Sugar Camp trails connect
  • Trail 7 aka Paint Ball Field that heads west (right) off Trail 17 to Sugar Camp connect near Kathan Inn

Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  DO NOT think the entire lake is safe.  Several sleds have gone in the water far from the barrels.

Please KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!

See ya on the trails!

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 6-9

Date of Report: February 6, 2022

Area Report:

A couple inches of new snow has helped with cooling the sleds, trails have stayed flat and smooth with the cold weather, railroad beds are beat up and gravel coming up but the trails in the woods are good to very good with some icy corners. Some more snow forecasted for mid week so that should only help with snow cover on our base.

Late report this morning.  Happy to report it is SNOWING as a clipper comes through.  Behind this clipper is another larger one that should be around noon. That one should bring an inch of 2.  Yesterday’s SNOW was somewhat of a bust. Maybe an inch.  Will take it but hey it’s time for a loud SNOW DANCE!  Need to hear it from way down in southern Wisconsin.

Riding remains the same.  Every condition you can think of & conditions change very quickly.

The Groomer Tracking System AP (GTS) shows groomers left the Groomer Barn along Hwy 45N near the Snowmobile Derby Track last night & did NEARLY a FULL GROOMING session with the exception of:

  • Uncle Kent Club trail that starts at Hwy G & Watersmeet Lake Road – NOT GROOMED
  • Trail 1 from Trail 17N to the entrance to Eagle Lake boat launch & lake crossing – NOT GROOMED
  • Chanticleer Inn spur that comes of Trail 10E about 2 miles east of Eagle River – NOT GROOMED

Catfish & Eagle lake trails marked & OPEN.  To be safe stay by the orange reflective barrels.  DO NOT think the entire lake is safe.  Several sleds have gone in the water far from the barrels.

Please KEEP DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!  Let’s hope the weather guys are right!!

Snowmobile Information:

Ran our trails yesterday afternoon. F Club trail from Gunlock to 47 good. 17 from Woodruff to F thin. 17 from F to Stearns Lake Road better with some stones. Trail 1, Stearns Lake Road to East Boundary still runnable but more road showing. In the woods up to 51 is good with some ice corners.17 from Stearns Lake Road to the 5 intersection, good with some ice corners. 5 into the Casino is great. 17 North from 5 is fair up to Sugarbush Road, then it is very gravelly up to the Mercer Club handoff at Powell Marsh. Ran up to Manitowish Waters, then Boulder with a couple of riders I met at Anglers, and trails were amazing all things considered.Northern Hornshoes are still grooming steady, but we need new snow for the thin areas, and to fatten up the mix where there is snow. John Dee is showing 1-2, maybe 4, today. NOAA also says 1-3″. Temps look to hit low 30’s Tues and Wed. Have fun and ride safe. Mark

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report – Friday, 2/4/22:

It’s -4 degrees out this morning with light snow falling. Last night, we groomed 2W, 8W, 51, 15N, and 6E. Early this morning, we groomed 15S, 11, and 8E. Even without any significant snow in awhile, our trails are in good to very good condition. Our club ride was to Land O’ Lakes Wednesday and the only marginal areas were the snowmobile road routes which really need some new snow right now.

Enjoy our trails, be safe, and check for an updated report on Monday, 2/7/22.
