Trail Report – : Hayward / Sawyer County, Wisconsin – February 13, 2025

Reporter:haywardlakes

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 0-5

Date of Report: February 13, 2025

Area Report:

The groomers have been out in full force this week, getting the trails smoothed out. For the most part, all trails have been groomed within the last day or two with all remaining by tomorrow so everything will be ready for the weekend.

Groomers report that the trails are pretty good, there are some spots better than others. There will be some areas that have rocks poking through so just a heads up. If you do see any big rocks or branches that have been pulled up from the groomer and there is a safe place to stop and toss them off the trail, the extra help is always appreciated.

There is more snow in the forecast Friday that would freshen things up nicely for the weekend.

So, get out and ride! Be safe, obey the laws and have fun!!

***PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL AS THERE ARE MANY HEAVES AND MORE CAN FORM AT ANYTIME! DRIVE WITH CAUTION AND AT SAFE SPEEDS. WE HAVE NOTED EXISTING HEAVES WE KNOW ABOUT BUT THIS WARNING APPLIES FOR ALL LAKES. CRUCIAL FOR YOUR SAFETY!!

Just to recap the heaves reported:
⚠️Nelson Lake – Hard Rock Cr to main Lake. Is not marked, club will monitor it this week.
⚠️Round Lake – across from Busse to Linden boat launch. Does run across the trail and there are caution signs at the heave near the marked trail area.
⚠️Long Lake – Little Bear to Boy Scout land. Is marked
⚠️ Chippewa Flowage – Sisko’s Pine Point Resort by landing. They have stakes warning ⚠️ Second heave reported going south in narrows towards Cranberry Lake on east side of Flowage. Not staked, will check it this week
⚠️Grindstone – in front of Williams Bay. Not staked
⚠️Lake Namakagon- between Garden Lake & Namakagon, just off of Duck Point
⚠️Lac Courte Oreilles- across the whole lake from the west side of Chicago Bay to the Whitefish Creek/Golden Shores area. Some were reported to be as tall as 4.5 feet.

Trail Report – : Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin – February 13, 2025

Reporter:Toulish1

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 1-5″

Date of Report: February 13, 2025

Snowmobile Information:

Not a lot of changes in our report. Considerable traffic but the cold is holding us. Chance of snow tomorrow, Friday, into Saturday. Our lake routes are all very good. Our main grade trail 17, is thin from Mattke Rd, to Frying pan lane, then thin up in the Powell Marsh. Those areas can be bypassed by riding Fence Lake to the south, then pick up 17 from Frying Pan Lane and head north from there. You can also run Fence to the boat launch, then take our club trail to Moss Lake, then run the lakes north from there. Powell Marsh can be bypassed by utilizing trail 23, River Rd, from Flambeau Lake. Raven Lake area is very good with a couple of icey corners. A caution flag goes out in this area if you go off the groomed trail, there is a substantial bank on the edges now. There are also rocks left over from the construction under the snow. Trail 5 into the casino is excellent. Trail 1 down from 51 to East Boundary is good with some icey corners. Trail 1 roads, Stearns Lake, and East Boundary, are better with the dusting we had, and people knocking the banks back down. With Oneida County open, F trail is getting heavier traffic, better in the woods, worn on some corners, and thinner out in the open. Our whole trail system has an ice base that is holding well where the sun can’t get at it. We have a lot of nice riding, as long as you dodge the problem areas utilizing our lake trails, which, by the amount of traffic on them, people are doing. Trails have been busy all week, and should have a lot of use this presidents day weekend.Stay warm and be safe. Mark

Trail Report – : Eagle River, Wisconsin – February 13, 2025

February 13– pm 7:00pm  – Low 6 below – High Friday 18

Sno-Eagles
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
OPEN
Good in the wooded areas
Fair or less in open areas
SNOW early Friday night into Saturday morning

Temps popping up to high of 18 on Friday & 25 on Saturday bringing SNOW.  3-4 inches at most.  May also be a little more Sunday morning.  No totals for Sunday.  Monday through next Thursday back in the freezer with temps. Single to maybe 12 for highs. Below zero every night!  Snow isn’t going anywhere.  Let’s hope we get some wet SNOW. Much better to groom.

GTS Groomer app shows no grooming on Wednesday night.  Report again in the morning to let you know what was groomed overnight.

NOTE: Trail 10E out of Eagle River becomes a one way from the ERRA SPORTS ARENA all the way to Mikes Gas Station.  It runs alone Hwy 70E.  The south side of the trail is ONE WAY going EAST only.  The north side of the trail is ONE WAY going WEST (back to Eagle River). Intersections are clearly marked with ONE WAY trail signs & DO NOT ENTER signs.  Very dangerous to go the wrong way.

Catfish Lake & Eagle Lake Trails are marked with orange reflective barrels.  Stay by the barrels as there is no guarantee the rest of the lakes are safe. They have icy spots so please slow down.  Lots of lakes have ice heaves so be safe & stay by the barrels wherever you ride.

Right now trails are either hard & icy with fluffy snow on top, Hard & icy with spots of snirt.  Especially on the north of trails that run along roads or through wide open areas.  Can tell you some pretty good riding in woods, under cover.  Bit of Adventure Sledding getting there. p.s.  Road routes are hard ice in spaces & bare in others.

See ya on the trails!  We got it so let’s ride it!

Trail Report – : Sayner, Wisconsin – February 13, 2025

Reporter:SaynerStar Lake Barnstormers

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: Minimal

Date of Report: February 13, 2025

Area Report:

Mother Nature continues to mostly ignore the northwoods of Wisconsin.  Since my report a week ago, we’ve had an additional 3-4″ of new snow (dry & fluffy).  It helps, but we sure could use some wet snow!  Forecast is for 2-4″ more on Friday – Saturday.

The Barnstormer trail system is holding up quite well.  You’ll find some dips here & there that can only be fixed with more snow, but mostly the riding is still really good.  With the thin layer on top of the base, please be careful going into corners as the ice can carry you into oncoming traffic if you’re going too fast.

If you happen to be using the Groomer Tracker app, it gives the appearance that the Barnstormers have not been grooming much.  I can assure you that we are grooming quite frequently.  We currently are trying out two demo machines and they are not yet equipped with GPS, so they don’t register on the GT app.

Remember, there are logging operations on parts of trails 11 & 15 between Escanaba Lake Road and Old White Birch Road.  The impact to the trail is minimal, so no reason to avoid.  Just remember the loggers have priority over the trails & have the authority to shut them down if you get in their way.  Please be respectful of their operations.

Be sure to take advantage of our two upcoming fundraising events!

  • Pizza fundraiser @ Hillside Tavern on Sunday, Feb 16.  4 – 8 PM
  • Brat Fry @ Sayner Pub on Saturday, Feb 22.  10 AM – 3 PM

Trail Conditions: Closed

Snow Cover: 4 to 6

Date of Report: February 13, 2025

Area Report:

We have good news bad news, first the good news we did receive between 4 to 6 inches yesterday, but the bad news is there was no moisture in it so first sled thru blows it right to the dirt. The weatherman is saying we are to have more snow Friday night into Saturday, and this is to have some moisture to it. We are on hold to OPEN trails until the weekend so just hang in there and we will let you know.

Trail Report – : Conover, Wisconsin – February 13, 2025

Reporter:snobuddies

Trail Conditions: Fair

Snow Cover: 6-10”

Date of Report: February 13, 2025

Area Report:

Went for a ride yesterday and put 70 miles on. We went from Conover, thru Phelps and into Forest county. All trails were fair to good. Some thin areas but was all groomed as flat as it could be. A little more snow and all the clubs can fill in the few dips.

Conover was groomed last night. This was the first time this season I was able to groom quicker. That means the bumps weren’t that bad, I could do some trails with one pass. I don’t know if it was less traffic so far this week, or the real cold temps we had froze in that base nicely. Either way, they turned out good.

We got a dusting to 1” of fresh snow yesterday and more in the forecast for Friday into Saturday.

News and Reports:

Trail 12 from the RR grade TIN 732 to County K TIN 731 has ruts from ATVs. There isn’t enough snow to fill the ruts. We put signs at each end of the trail for Caution Next 1 mile and Rough Trail. Use caution when traveling this area.

The Cemetery Trail from TIN 724 to TIN 725, and south to TIN 727 at Church Rd is thin for snow cover. You will find a few bare spots, There is a hill between TIN 725 and TIN 726 at Lindberg Rd that was bare from sleds going up it. The swamp area did freeze up, so it is good to go.

To see where the Groomer is at, check out  Groomer Tracker  Half the cost of the app comes back to Conover Sno-Buddies to support grooming operations.
