Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 8-10 inches

Date of Report: January 6, 2023

Area Report:

At 8:00 a.m. it’s 18 degrees out with clearing skies. We groomed 2W, 8W, 51, 15N and 6E last night and 8E, 11, and 15S early this morning.

Overall, our trails are in good condition. Our road routes such as 2W on Kego Road, 51 on Day Lake Road, 8E on Nixon Lake Road, 6E on Old B, and Trail 11 south of the 11/15S intersection are in very good condition with the rest of our trails in good condition. With the moderate traffic, Corridor 15N and 15S usually develop some moguls by the end of the day, but are groomed daily to keep them smooth.

If you are in our area this week, enjoy our trails and stop in and support our local businesses.Look for an updated report on Monday, 1/09/23.

Trail Conditions: Good

Snow Cover: 12-14″

Date of Report: January 6, 2023

Area Report:

Snowmobile clubs and county staff have cleared a majority of snowmobile trails after the December storm event. Most of these trails have been groomed at least once.  All trails will officially open as of January 6th. Please be advised that portions of Trail 8, west of County Highway K, may not be fully cleared and groomed before the weekend. Trails in the Birchwood area are completely cleared and while we anticipate that all trails will be groomed, there may be sections not completed by the weekend. In addition, Trail 239 in the Shell Lake area has not been groomed due to wet conditions in a swamp crossing. Trail conditions should be excellent in those areas that grooming has been completed. Please ride with caution as we continue to finalize trail opening efforts and stay on designated trail surfaces.

Snowmobile Report – January 6, 2023
We have received up to 12 inches of new snow, groomers are out preparing the trails since the new snow and all trails should be groomed and in excellent condition for the weekend.  We have 8-12 inches of packed snow on the trails.  Due to wet heavy snow, be prepared for some small branches that still need to be cut.  Be cautious, the snow has prevented some of the wet areas from freezing down.  Please be careful in these areas.  As always, enjoy the trails and be safe.

SNO-EAGLES
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
EARLY SEASON RIDING – Fair to Good

No new SNOW since the SNOW showers yesterday morning.  Good news is the temps have dropped. 18 right now with a high of 23 today & 11 tonight. 20’s for highs & low teens at night through middle of next week. Pop up on Thursday with SNOW forecast. Up & down temps through the 20th.   Need a SNOW DANCE!

As for the trails.  The best riding is heading north out of town.  That would be Trail 10/13. Icy corners most everywhere. Yesterday the swamps have slush spots.  Wisconsin River Bridge area of Trail 10/13 that heads west has slushy spots on the approach to the bridge on both sides. There is room to get around those spots. With the temp drop these areas should have firmed up. In town trails are more than likely very crusty this morning to include heading south on Trail 10/13.  There is Fair riding heading east on 10E which is a one way trail from the Hockey Sports Arena to just past East Bass Lake Rd.  All SNOW covered.  When the trails merges back together riding still fair ’til getting to the Three Lakes connect. Pick up the Three Lakes  trails & take a ride on what the locals call the Kimball Creek trail.  Into Three Lakes & back up on Alt 13to Eagle River.   Riders rated that a B+ yesterday.

NO GROOMING LAST NIGHT.   GROOMING TO RESUME FRIDAY NIGHT

NOTE – DEERVIEW LANE SECTION OF TRAIL 1N THAT HEADS TO EAGLE LAKE STILL HAS HEAVY TRUCK TRAFFIC.  Slow down & be aware.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are open & marked.   Take it slow.  Hard rough & some shiny ice & surface slush pockets still present, particularly on the turn that takes you off the lake to Townline Rd. Stay by the orange reflective barrels ALWAYS to be safe.

Some reminders when you ride. Have a Map or Phone App. Please no off trail riding & stop at driveways.  Also as you ride you might meet a groomer.   They are big & can’t pull over for us.  So pull over & let the driver direct you.  And oh ya give ’em a thumbs up.  They groom so we can ride!!!

Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!  THINK COLD!

See ya on the trails real soon!!

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 9-10 Inches

Crews have been busy and made great progress. You will find that most trails have been cleared and groomed. There are a few that are cleared and passable, but not yet groomed, however will be groomed between Friday and Sunday this weekend. You can check the GTS app for updates on the most recent groomed trails.

The following trails have not been cleared and are not passable. These would be trail 5 between Moose Lake and Trap N Fish (#13) – this is currently being worked on. Trail 27/5 south of the Tuscobia – will be worked on next week. Trail 40 looped with 311 and 162 just north of Loretta – also work on next week. And lastly (only 4 all together) is trail 11 or famously known as “The 9 Mile Loop” – also currently worked on and halfway done.

MORE great news!!!
Staked lakes…
• The Chippewa Flowage
• Lost Land Lake
• Nelson Lake
• Grindstone
• Lac Courte Oreilles
• Barker Lake
• Spider Lake

Lakes not staked but with an ETA:
• Whitefish and Sand will be staked tomorrow
• Round Lake this weekend
• Lake Chetac next week (no word on Big or Little Sissabagama)

The Tiger Cat Flowage, Callahan and Mudd is staked but still closed temporarily for an area to freeze, this will be inspected this weekend will be updated.

Lastly, we did receive about another 7” of snow yesterday so there are some more knocked down branches. Again, we suspect branches to break and fall all winter so always ride with caution.

Thank you to all the volunteers, clubs and businesses that rolled up their sleeves!

Trail Report – : Antigo/Langlade County, Wisconsin – January 5, 2023

Reporter:langlade

Trail Conditions: Early Season

Snow Cover: 2-4

Date of Report: January 5, 2023

Area Report:

THE NORTHERN UNIT (ZONE A) OF THE LANGLADE COUNTY SNOWMOBILE TRAIL SYSTEM INCLUDING STATE-FUNDED TRAILS ARE SCHEDULED TO OPEN ON SATURDAY JANUARY 7th, AT 6:00 A.M.

THE TRAILS BETWEEN INTERSECTIONS 49 & 58 AND INTERSECTIONS 21B & 22B WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. To view a map of where these closures are located, click here.  Downloadable Langlade County Snowmobile Trail Map is available by clicking here, stop in the Antigo · Langlade County Welcome Center located at 404 Superior Street in Antigo, or request one on our Contact Us page.

These trails will be open to ATVs on January 17, 2023. ATVs are not allowed on snowmobile trails when the temperature is above 28° F. UTVs are not allowed on the Langlade County Snowmobile trail system due to the weight and width of these machines.

The Langlade County Snowmobile clubs, sponsors, and operators of the existing trails, have put in many volunteered hours brushing, signing, and grooming to provide snowmobile trails for your use. Please support the snow clubs, thank them for their efforts and patronize their business sponsors.

All lake and river trails in Langlade County are considered unsafe and should not be utilized until they have been clearly marked by a local snowmobile club. As always, the Langlade County Forestry & Recreation Department recommends riders stay on clearly marked trails. Please respect private property; use of trails across private lands is a privilege. Always exercise caution when riding a snowmobile. The trails are in rough, early season condition.

We are sorry for the delay in opening, the ice storm that hit Langlade County on December 15th resulted in the need for clearing of trees, brush, and bent over trees on over 400 miles of our trail system. Thanks to the diligent work of our trail clubs, that work is now completed. We do advise caution as the ice will continue to break trees for the foreseeable future.

For questions regarding specific trail conditions, please contact the local snowmobile club or visit their social media pages.

For more information, please contact Al Murray, Forest Administrator or Cody Brauner, Langlade County Snowmobile Coordinator at 715-627-6300.

We hope that you enjoy the Langlade county trail system this winter and thank you for supporting the economy and businesses of Langlade County!

Trail Conditions: Excellent

Snow Cover: 6-10″

Date of Report: January 5, 2023

Snowmobile Information:

First off, trails are here, wish you were beautiful. We just had 3″ of great snowman snow overnight, then another inch or so today. LOTS of sled traffic. Smart people. Some bumps here and there, and the corners in the raven lake area get blown up, but our groomers smush it back the best they can. We marked lakes today EXCEPT Fence. Please be careful. A LOT of slush spots. Keep in mind the lake marking is all volunteers, and the funds for the markers come right out of our Piggy Bank. I wanted a new bun warmer for the groomer to warm up my hot pockets, and Keith said no bun warmer, we need lake markers. Enjoy your ride while I eat my cold sandwiches, Hah! Mark
