There may be some icy corners yet so slow down. Cruserfest is next weekend so check out there website . Trails will be in the best riding conditions so far this year so with temps in the 20s should be great. Eagle River has the races this weekend so traffic will be heavy as you ride east.

SNO-EAGLES
EAGLE RIVER TRAILS
Very Good to Excellent

One foot of new wet packy SNOW east of Eagle River!  Similar totals throughout Sno-Eagles Country trails! & all of Vilas County! The ice base held on nearly all the trails.  The SNOW was groomed last night followed by temps in the teens overnight.  Trail set up amazing bringing conditions to Very Good to Excellent!

No problem areas on trails to report this morning.   With the wet heavy SNOW there may be low hanging branches.  Did not see any but be aware. Reliable rider report of small section of mushy SNOW on the west side of the Wisconsin River Bridge section of Trail10W/13N. Nothing serious & easy to get around. Same rider told me Manske Swamp,Trail 3N is tight with no mush.  Trail 10E now that it is groomed is fantastic!  Same with Trail Alt13S to Three Lakes, Trails 70W/7/13 heading toward St. Germain, Trails 10W/7 heading toward Sayner, Trails 13N heading to the Bauer’s area.  Trail 17N that heads toward Phelps & Trail 1 that heads to Eagle Lake in great shape too.

The road crews are still out clearing roads & driveways so watch for snowbanks at crossings.  The high banks might make it hard to see so be sure to stop at the crossings.

Groomers out last night into early AM today.  Full grooming everyday.

Eagle & Catfish Lake trails are open & marked & still safe.  Expect very slippery riding with lots of SNOW cover.  Reports of drifting. Slow down. Always stay by the orange reflective barrels to be safe.

NOTE: Off of Trail 70W after entering St. Germain is a trail locals call “The Goat” trail.  It is a Club Trail that starts at TIN 287 to TIN 288 that is CLOSED.  It is clearly marked as CLOSED with fencing & signs.  Please do not ride through this area from either direction. DO NOT RIDE ON HWY 70 as this is not legal.  Click on image to enlarge.

On snowmobile designated road routes need to follow the speed limit set for the road for all vehicles.

Last, off trail riding is a big problem.  PLEASE STAY ON THE TRAIL.

Keep DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE!!  THINK COLD!

See ya on the trails

Snow Cover: 6-8″ of fresh snow!

Date of Report: January 19, 2023

Area Report:

Wow, we are thrilled to get 6-8″ of fresh white gold this morning.  With the hard base, the trails should set up great.  We have all the groomers out, trying to get the entire system completed prior to the weekend.

This is the shot in the arm we needed.

As always stay right when riding and stay close to the barrels on the lake.

Have some fun, enjoy the trails, and support the pitstops.

It’s been snowing all day….  Hooray!!  We’ve gotten at least 10″ or more of snow so far today.  Groomers and operators will be out on the trails tonight getting things groomed up for the weekend!  We have a “great” ice base under the new snow so hoping this will be the start to a wonderful weekend!  But, remember there is a lot of ice under the snow so be careful in the corners.. stay on your side of the trail and have fun…  it’s time to play!!  🙂

Hopefully tomorrow I can update you on actual trail #’s and their condition. Forecast is calling for snow through the evening stopping around mid-night.

Happy & Safe Sledding!!

Snow Cover: Back in the bear cage!!!!!

Date of Report: January 19, 2023

Snowmobile Information:

Ok, I measured a solid 5 inches at my house before I plowed snow. It’s still coming down pretty hard at 4 o’clock. Even before I got on the sled, I had another inch on the ground. Keith activated the groomer last night. He was hoping to arrange the base before the snow. I just ran the circuit, including Pokegama lake, and it’s a little bumpy in spots but with a fair amount of sled traffic working it, it’s a very decent ride on new snow with no grooming. We are on the raggedy edge of kawabunga. As Mr T would say, “ I pity the fool that don’t ride this weekend”. Mark

Well, Mother Nature finally came through. 7-8” of fresh white gold has fallen. We will be out tonight working our magic. Trails will be in very good to excellent condition.
Lakes are all marked, stay close to the barrels for the safest ice.
Remember, the groomers have the right of way. If you come upon one, they will stop and let you by when it’s the safest. We typically groom at night, but there are times when you will see one during the day.

As always, the Langlade County Forestry & Recreation Department recommends riders stay on clearly marked trails. Please respect private property; the use of trails across private lands is a privilege. Always exercise caution when riding a snowmobile. The trails are in early season condition some wet areas may be present due to rain earlier this week. Trail clubs report that trail surfaces were good to excellent following the latest snowfall. Trail conditions are expected to improve as cold weather moves in over the weekend and early next week.

  • Zone A Trails are in good to excellent condition.
  • Zone B trails are in fair to good shape with some icy patches and rough stretches mostly in fields.
