More Poor than Fair

January 5, 2019 7:30am – 24 degrees – Early morning sun – Cloudy afternoon

High of 37 degrees today which is much better than the 43 yesterday.  Even better 18 degrees tonight! Really good new is SNOW is coming tomorrow, Sunday night!  Right now it says periods of SNOW & a chance of some sleet. 3-5 inches.  Then on Monday we are on the cusp of SNOW or rain all depending on the temps.  So THINK COLD!  Should be SNOW Monday night.

Yesterday morning went out for a 2 hour ride with my husband Tom & great grandson, Jase, who is 3.  So riding slower as he fell a sleep 5 miles into the ride.  From our house on 10E to town to 17N to 1N.  Across Eagle Lake to 10E and home.  Here’s what it was like:

10E to town on the northside of the road had snirt off & on especially 6 miles out.  The section between Bloom & Loon Lake roads was solid & little icy at the beginning.  Getting closer to Loon Lake road it was bumpy looks like vehicles were in there before snow time as it was rutted up.  Thin snow there.

The grade (3) was white & smooth as could be.  Plenty of snow to the intersection by Dairy Queen.  Plenty of snow all the way through town.  Thinner than the grade. Snirt at crossings.  Headed  out on the grade to 17N intersection.

Took 17N to trail 1.  17 was mushy but snow covered til we crossed the road from the south side to the north side.  Under the big pines it was very snirty.  In the swampy part more snow but bumps from the frozen slush.  Crosses Hwy 45N.  Not too bad on the south of the road into the woods.  Rode that until Trail 1 intersection.

Trail 1 down Deer View Lane to Townhall Rd into the woods.  The woods part of the trail had logging on it & is pretty bumpy but mostly snow covered.  Onto Eagle Lake trail that was smoooooth & safe by the orange barrels.  Up onto land & Dollar Lake Rd to Trail 10E.

Head east on the south side of the road & it was pretty much snow covered.  Few snirty spots.

Very impressed with the job the groomer guys are doing with the amount of snow! Great Job! We were out from 10:30-12:30pm . It deteriorated in the afternoon with the 43 degree temps.  All in all great ride with our sleepy 3 years old!

EAGLE LAKE TRAIL & CATFISH LAKE TRAIL ARE MARKED & OPEN. Stay by the reflective orange barrels.  Do not drift away from the barrels as it is not safe to do so.  Remember not all lakes have trails so if you don’t see marker do not ride on it to be safe.  These are the only 2 lakes that are marked in Sno-Eagles Country.  No other lake trails.

Continue DOIN’ THE SNOW DANCE & THINK COLD!

See ya on the trails today!
