Trail Conditions: Early Season
Snow Cover: 3 to 6 inches
Date of Report: December 12, 2017
Clubs members and volunteers continue to work out on the trails cleaning up debris from the beautiful heavy snow and ice. Trails 9 and 29 have had some trees down that the crews are working on clearing. Lakes are working on making ice but not ready yet for staking, some feel close to Christmas there will be some lakes that will be ready, we will continue to update with the status and safety on the lakes.
Also, many trails do pass through private property and many of them still have the gates shut. These gates will be opened in upcoming weeks as the weather continues to set up our season and freeze the ground. Please remember to be respectful of these trails and do not open or go around shut gates, we do not want to rut the land as the ground is hardening. We are so very grateful these land owners allow us access and we want to show that appreciating by respecting their land.
An addition to the trail update —
The US Forest Service has announced they will be OPENING the trails in the Chequamegon National Forest this Saturday 12/16.
Also, please note Trail 63 from Phipps Rd north to the Bayfield County line is not open to snowmobiles yet with the exception of the railroad grade between Mosquito Brook Rd to Seeley.
Thank you to all club members and volunteers for your hard work and to all who choose beautiful Sawyer County as their riding destination. Continue to think snow!
